I would say that for young people, you get a lot of exposure to a huge company filled with opportunities, and you develop a lot of really close friends. And on your days off, you get to enjoy parks and still see your friends on duty...
My in-laws worked there when WDW opened, that's how they met. They loved it there and always toyed with just going back to work there part time for fun. A co-worker of theirs JUST RETIRED from WDW. She was our free-ticket person... dangit.
Wife's best friend worked there in college program and went to corporate for a decade before becoming a SAHM. She has nothing but great things to say about her time there and is a huge Disney fan.
One of my friends did the college program and went back to Disney a few years later in marketing... still there today doing some very cool stuff that takes him around the world to all the parks. Says working in the parks was best time of his life.
My wife has a cousin that has worked there his entire adult life, doing something so insanely cool and specific I can't say it here. His dad did it before him, and even has pictures with Roy Disney.
Two cousins were performers there and it led to careers in performance ballet, broadway shows, etc... and they are very close to the friends they made while working at WDW.

The internship program is building 10's of thousands of new apts. to house them. Disney has tons of jobs that never have to see a vacationer. They are promoting the tranny thing heavily. It is clown world behind the scenes.

I have a friend that was in the military, then worked for the NSA, and was then heavily recruited by Disney and now works at DW in Orlando.
Seemingly odd career track, but I imagine Disney is data mining/tracking the shite out over everyone at their parks.

Thousands of kids each year are there on the Disney College Program. They get a ton of experience, get to have fun, and have an inside track into a job at a Disney-owned company. The people operating rides aren't carnival workers, for the most part.
Other people choose to work there because they want to do it. Retirees driving boats, taking photos, etc... maybe they enjoy being around people that are mostly really happy to be where they are?

I know a guy I know that worked there for a long time. He started with the college program. Graduated, and went to work in the hotel world for about 5 years. Started working at Disney again, was in guest relations at one of the parks, then became a VIP tour guide, then a guest relations manager at another park. Did that until COVID shut everything down, and he moved away from Florida and is now back in the hotel business as an assistant general manager.
He said the pay was decent and the benefits were outstanding. More than that, he just loves Disney, and the type of work he did allowed him to share his love with others. It was one of those "it never felt like work" things for him.
He also said if he was in casting or food services or merchandise or attraction support etc he would have offed himself, so there is that.

I know a guy who's father is one of the train drivers at Magic Kingdom, I think he does it one day a week or something.
I always thought it might be interesting in retirement to be a bus driver for Disney Transport.

Several of our friends and even a few family members have had their kids go do it. One girl came home for a bit and somehow has signed up to go do it again.

Worked for Disney when I was 17. I hated the drive to the employee lot but they paid well and it was interesting. They supply everything down to the clothing and approved haircuts.
