i think it's what forty-something white women say because they think it was something black kids said in the 90s. hard to track down the exact etymology. usually said in pairs, i.e. "woot woot"

I used to check it almost daily. Not long after Amazon bought it, the daily Woots just weren't as good (both the products and the prices).

FYI for old school Wooters....
The guy who made Woot, and sold it to Amazon went on to create MEH.com. Its very similar to the old Woot with generally a single daily deal of cheap crap and a funny write up.
