Hardness and strength are completely different. Diamond is the hardest natural substance which means that no other natural substance can scratch it. And I'm pretty sure that diamonds are hard when it comes to stones. They will scratch other elements.
But if you slam a big chunk of granite on a diamond, it will shatter.

I saw one who started putting all of her stuff, post breakup, on ebay and made a killing at $1500 - $2000 for each pair of shoes and individual purses.....and she sold them too. She made a killing.
