Why can't they comprehend that turning the thermostat 20 degrees past the desired temperature does not cause the car/house/boat/airplane/submarine to heat or cool any faster?

My wife does this and it drives me crazy. She'll wake up and get cold and turn the heat up to 77 and have me sweating my arse off getting dressed

Buy a Nest. Half of them probably won't know how to operate it.

False. Heat as high as 66 in the winter, Air as low as 72 in the summer. No reason to keep cranking either past that.

I've always said hat thermostats should have electric adjustment on them. As in when you adjust it, you get electrocuted. You can change it if you want, but think carefully first as there is a price for each adjustment.

needing "one item" and going to the store, walk in and directly buy that one item, and walk out without "looking around" for an hour and buying all kinds of other shite, is another concept totally against their genetic code too

Thermostats are right up there with the infield fly rule and driving.

My grandfather had a clear locking box that went over the thermostat. Only he had the key.

I'm so in this, it's not even funny.

What it will do is ensure that 90% of the time, you are going to be either too hot or too cold.
