Had a members meeting on Tuesday saying essentially dont tempt fate as city is trying to find any reason to move Endymion to the uptown route.
Almost happened this year but krewe had to cough up money to get extra LEs from harbor police and JPD to meet the "security need" of the city
I heard the city will let it roll one more year on the Canal route but that it was going to be moved uptown due to NOPD manpower issues.

I thought it was common sense not to cross between floats, cars, rail cars, etc. My father told me about a guy who died years ago crossing between rail cars at Dow Chemical in plaquemine.
Guy was between rail cars. One rolled back and got em. Safety 101. She had to be drunk

but I’ll bet barricades will be coming after what happened, not sure how soon. If people are dying without them, it’s probably the right call.
I think the last time someone was killed on the streets by a float in New Orleans was 39 years ago. It's an extremely sad story, but it seems the lady used no common sense and it caused a tragedy. To be honest, I'm surprised there haven't been more incidents over the years considering the massive amounts of people that attend and how big the floats have become.

Hopefully everyone will calm down and take the time to consider the issue before doing anything. Our worst laws and regulations are knee jerk reactions to stuff like this. You can’t legislate away stupid drunken behavior. Darwin just comes into play sometimes.

You ARE referring to some of the spelling in the thread, right?
What a complete buffoon.

A few years ago Endymion was unloading and someone tried to go between the tandems to get to the dome and died

I hate to say it but the proverbial chicken with its head cut off situation, where despite not being functionally alive the nervous system still fires a bit.

Still a sad way to start off Mardi Gras. I feel terrible for the kids that had to see that.
