Nah, they are hauling arse and the propellers are 20+ feet below the water. There was a guy that jumped off one of the Norwegian ships in the river a few years ago and they were able to get him. It was daylight though. ship was moving pretty good too.

Yea if she jumped off the stern, now way she gets into the propellers. Would have to be on the side towards the bow I would imagine.

Either way, out in the ocean she is a goner most probably.

Carnival's ability to stay in business is a mystery, but not because of people falling off

Poors and lower middle class need vacations too. Only so many times they can go to Gatlinburg and Gulf Shores and stay sane.

I'm going on one in October. As soon as I get onboard, I go and grab me a chair in the very back, back where you can see the trail that the ship makes as it moved along. I sit there and get shitfaced for 5 days straight, only getting up to use the bathroom and eat dinner in the dining room at night, during which time I leave my shite on my chair so nobody sits there. I never get off the ship. Very relaxing just watching the world go by, surrounded by blue, and very cheap, if you go at the right time.

De ja vu all over again/ we get these every few months it seems

If my girl ever convinces me to go on a cruise, it's on the condition her drunk arse is restrained to the bed b4 I go to sleep if she's wasted.

Why do people even go on cruises?

Small rooms, lousy food, poor entertainment, water locked most of the cruise, excursions are a joke, ...

They're actually pretty fun.

I did a Royal Caribbean cruise last year that was pretty great. The ship never felt overly crowded, even with around 5,000 passengers and crew. Balcony room was very spacious. Entertainment was ok, but that wasn't a priority for me. The excursions were fun. Our food was actually very good.

Cruise ships are my personal nightmare.

I go on vacation to get away from people, not be trapped on a boat with 5,000 of them. You'd literally have to pay me a substantial amount of money to go on one again.

But to each his own, do what you enjoy.

Have been on a couple cruises including Europe and Alaska.
In Europe it was a good way for my family to catch a few highlights of major sights without having to move luggage every couple days. Its expensive to fly a whole family to Europe so we crammed as much in as we could. Wasn't trash at all, mostly were Spaniards on board and most were really nice and not trashy. Gave us some ideas of where we may and may not like to go on individual trips.

In Alaska your options are more limited if you want to see the inside passage and Glacier Bay without going on a cruise.

I have also been on 2 cruises out of NOLA and probably wouldn't go back unless we were going with a group of friends that specifically wanted to do that. One trip we went on was a 7 day Norwegian years ago that was good. We went on a 3 or 4 day Carnival with some friends and that was pretty trashy but still a fun easy getaway because of the group we went with.

For me, it is by far the cheapest and most convenient form of transportation to international dive sites. Last year, I did a 7 day cruise for under $400. I did 2 dives in each of 4 different countries as my excursions for about $80/per. Belize, Cozumel, Cayman, Roatan are some of the worlds best diving and a small room and a few decent meals is all I need to get there.
