I would be willing to bet a lot of money that someone has been cut off on a cruise ship.

They definitely have. Cruise Ships have brigs too. People who are disorderly can get locked up until port where they are dumped off and left to find their own way home. The law at sea is different than in the US.

The only thing you can think of is having the cruise ship monitor its patrons alcohol intake?

well yes, that's as far as I've gotten being that alcohol is involved in 40% of cases of someone going overboard, 10% is suicide and the remaining 50% is foul play

No more getting drunk on cruise ships, because there is a less than .1% chance that a drunk a-hole will fall off the side.

Come on, man. There is no preventing dumbasses from killing themselves. You're penalizing everyone for the mistakes of a fool.

Many of these cruise ships are registered in foreign flags anyways, so their rules, laws and safety requirements differ than the ones in the US, they fall under Maritime Law

no but monitoring the amount of alcohol that a person is being served and cutting them off when they are a danger to themselves may save a life or 2.

What point is that? It doesn't take much alcohol for someone to start acting dangerously.

I've only been on a cruise once, and the first thing I thought was "Damn, those rails are kind of low".

Personally I think they should be much higher.

They need to put nets around the ship like China does to their sweatshop buildings.

I'd just swim to shore. BTW, I eat iron man competitions for breakfast so don't test me.

Hell, I've been cut off on a cruise ship. That all inclusive drink card is pretty great.

Are the railings on cruises higher or lower than the standard railings for balconies?
