Again, I think they got drunk, took the boat out, decided to go for a swim without properly securing the boat, it drifted off and she was too drunk to stay afloat that long.
I think this is why the police said it could be a terrible accident or a homicide. I think he will at least be charged with negligent homicide or involuntary manslaughter.

Based on what you're thinking happened, negligent homicide wouldn't fit. And Louisiana doesn't have "involuntary manslaughter." There is manslaughter, but that wouldn't fit either. If it happened the way you're thinking, then he wouldn't be charged. It would be just a tragic accident.

Right, zero chance of charges if it happened the way he thinks.

unless there are marks on her body or they find drugs in her system...right T?
Posted on 8/7/18 at 9:07 pm to tgrbaitn08
I mean, if she used drugs that wouldn't change anything. If by marks on her body you mean that something happened other than what he said, which was going for a swim, then I guess so.

With regards to the drugs, that wouldn't matter unless you could prove he gave her the drugs with the intent of rendering her basically helpless causing her death. And for the marks, what kind of marks? What could have caused the marks? Did he have any marks as well?
If these questions can be answered and those answers point to foul play, then he could be charged. Simply marks being present do not indicate foul play though.

marks..as in marks around her arms or neck...from his hands
eta: id imagine if there was foul play or a struggle, being as fit as they say she was, she would have put up a fight and he would have marks on his body but that doesnt seem like the case

In that case, foul play would definitely be on the table. Would still depend on other things (his statements, Coroner's statement, other possible evidence) so I can't say 100% yes he would be charged if those marks were present, but it's definitely possible.
ETA: Agreed on a likely struggle if that were the case. There are just a lot of unknowns for us right now. Seems like an accident, but it could very well be something other than that.

Yea I guess we'll see what coroner says. If I was going to do it, I wouldn't do it that close to land. I could see the boat easily when the helicopter showed up. Wasn't all that far.

The Cajun Navy showed up today, launched drones to survey the landscape and evaluate currents, within 10 minutes of launching the boats they found the body.

Sounds like the Cajun Navy needs to head up to Iowa to find that other girl.

And why didn't the coast guard do this?

Because the USCG follows procedures and protocol. Cajuns follow instinct and common sense.

To be fair, as said already, when someone drowns it takes a certain amount of time for the body to float back to the surface.
The coast guard was more or less looking for someone alive. The girl was found close to the boat right? So the coast guard had searched that area for someone alive already.

from what I was told, by what I deem to be a reliable source, the boat that spotted here was heading to a location to look and kinda just stumbled on to her, of course... this is from and an member of a an agency already searching.

Dixie Beer needs to make a special Cajun Navy IPA.
