Please tell me how this was avoidable.

She clearly spoke to the infected person. That means face to face. She could've just had the delivery person drop it off. "I didn't even touch her" strongly implies she could've touched her meaning she had normal interaction. Probably invited them in

She caught it from the person bringing her groceries.

My fear is getting it from someone delivering mail/packages, someone at Walmart bringing groceries to the car, someone loading my groceries into the cart at Sam's, someone in a restaurant preparing my food or bringing it to my car, and most of all another customer touching the clipboard before me at a drive thru restaurant, or at Walgreens.

I have hand wipes and surface wipes for pumping gas, or anything else I have to touch.

I am doing my best to stay away from people, but I did go in Walmart at 6 am Tuesday to buy some things they won't bring out to the car or mail. I got withing ten feet of half a dozen strangers., but I am hoping most were other old people who aren't getting out much, and took advantage of the seniors only program. Dollar General has early hours for seniors only too.

Saw a lady pull down her mask and sniff 5-6 shampoo bottles at the grocery store yesterday.

I am getting frustrated by the Karens that think a mask is an anti covid forcefield so no social distancing is necessary.

It's not her fault the person delivering her food was sick.

No. But given that she was living with someone who was still going out and about (but he slept on the couch!) I can pretty much guarantee she didn’t so much as wash her hands after picking up groceries.

My point is that people aren’t correctly targeting the source of risk. They think wearing a mask and keeping 4-6 feet from people is enough.

It’s not.

Sounds like you also don’t understand how the virus is spread

Oh, this should be good. How exactly is this virus spread? COVID-19 in particular?

Here, I'll help you out

while a risk can't be ruled out if an infected person prepares the food, or you buy it from a highly trafficked buffet

Thomas File Jr., MD, chair of the infectious disease division at Northeast Ohio Medical University, and president of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, addressed the topic in a recent media briefing. "I don’t think we're so concerned about produce, although anything that’s being touched by hands, where people could be having the virus on their hands, could potentially be at risk." He recommended that people wash their produce

This news is not particularly newsworthy.

OP should subcontract to Larry Leo:
