Elton. Is there a single inhabitable building on the main street besides the police station?

Take a minute and drive the small streets of Ferriday some time. I did a few weeks back and it's truly a heart breaker.

Monroe...at least with the small towns you mentioned you know your in a tiny town... Monroe is neither a small town nor a city... it's the worst of everything.

A breathtakingly beautiful Catholic cathedral in the middle of a rubbish heap. Truly a metaphor of the human condition.

Anything along Hwy 51 going north from I12 gets progressivly worse as you drive north. Hammond, Tickfaw, Independence, Amite, etc.

Crowley/Rayne area

How is Crowley the most depressing? It’s a normal small town. Lots of trash but also some nice parts. It’s definitely far from the worst place in Louisiana

Alexandria as far as "large" cities go in Louisiana.

Kaplan if we're including smaller towns. I'm almost certain it has a negative population trend.

North side of Lafayette and 6th street in Mamou. I get sad when driving through both.

I grew up right outside of Bogalusa and only go back to put flowers on my parent's gravesite at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. I second your motion of nominating Bogalusa...it's a depressing little community.

These days for me it's Opelousas. I used to love that place as a kid.

was coming to post this.

I work here now, it's what Trump would call a shithole.

I live west of here down 190 and my city isn't much better realistically, but it's night and day from this crap city.

before being acquainted with opelousas I would have said north BR, it's hard to believe it's considered baton rouge, it's a different world.

I call BS on all of that. I find if I maintain a reasonable distance from anyone who blames a city/town/location for not finding anything positive or the same for their depressing existence, somehow I'm able to thoroughly enjoy life pretty much anywhere I happen to be.

edit, wanted to add the other side of that equation... I've worked over two dozen states and taken up residence in hlf as many cities. No matter where you hear people say this town sh!ts on so and so town... or that city is the best, etc... you'll find just as many people there who say it sucks and think their life will be better if they can just be somewhere else... any place, no matter where, is only what you make it.
