After a natural disaster like Harvey, so many people are willing to help out, which is a good thing, but when you break it down I can't help but wonder.. Where does all the money go?

Let's take last year's flood for example. When it is all going on you hear about a lot of people donating a lot of money. There are truck loads after truck loads of supplies coming in from all over, but once it is time for the rebuilding process.. the media goes away. People start having problems dealing with their insurances, there is federal money coming in and there is a lot of red tape involved in all of it...

But what are the millions of dollars in donations used for? There are no specifics ever given. I assume most people donate with the idea that their money will go towards helping people get back on their feet so they can rebuild, but do individuals ever receive donated money? Or used for building supplies? In other words, is all the money that is donated accounted for when it is all said and done?

I don't donate to organizations. Give directly to people.

Absolutely not. The only way this would be possible is for direct transfer of money to an individual or family. As shitty as this sounds, any event like this will result in a LOT of graft.

There's still billions unaccounted for from Katrina.

That's what I am getting at. This should be a concern because people donate with intent to help people, but when it comes time to start the rebuilding process, that's when reality sets in.. And you never hear about all the money that is donated.

To be quite honest, there is no way around this, unless everyone starts donating in bitcoin and we look at the ledger, or someone is able to support another firsthand, whether by direct transfer or by physically helping.

not only that, but there are many liberal activist groups out there that are using this tragedy "implying" they are collecting money for the hurricane by carefully worded to say "donate to help after hurricane harvey", but it is instead, all going for political BS to protest trump and support liberal protest groups because they never actually "said" it was going for relief efforts.

got some really sick liberals out there with nothing but vile and hate in their hearts that have no limits to how low they will go

I understand that is the way to go, but there is a lot of money that doesn't go directly to people.. So what is it used for or where does it go?

If they are doing it, I doubt they are the only group of people doing it.

red cross only uses something like less then 5% of what is collected to aid whatever event they collect donations for. they are one of the worst frauds out there living off of a once great name that implied trust.

Interesting. I generally feel the same but... After the LA floods I donated to a local chapter of the LSU fan club. I bought cases of peanut butter, tuna, Jambalaya Mix, Red beans and rice mix, etc. I also bought some tools to help remove sheetrock.

I was told a truck had been procured and it was going to a fire department in the LSU area for local re-distribution. I have never heard what all was gathered or how the mission went.

Did I do good? Who knows?

I highly doubt fraud is only kept to the liberal left.

Who was the poster that talked about a hauling company that was paid for each full load of debris that it collected during Katrina , and the workers were instructed to half fill them but loosely put some limbs in to make it look full?

I'd bet that half of these celebrities that are saying they're donating aren't actually doing it.
