Because Jimmy Buffett doesn't like tequila and prefers rum, so he doesn't know what a good one tastes like.

I went to the Margaritaville in Key West and found it, to say the least, overrated AND overpriced.

JB's Margaritaville on Hwy 59 at Fort Morgan Road in Gulf Shores somewhere around '84-'85.

My parents used to hang out there. Of course we only lived a couple miles from it and they'd trust me to stay alive home alone as an 8-10 yo.

When the Margaritaville in New Orleans first opened, the margaritas were really good. Haven't been though since the 90s.

I LOVE margaritas... it's one of the few mixed drinks I actually enjoy. It is almost anxiety-inducing to order one out. I feel like I can't remember the last good one I had that I didn't make at home.

I'm not familiar with the establishment that you're talking about, but I would never expect a place with such a lazy, uninspired name to be worth a shite. If they couldn't be bothered to be somewhat original with their name, I wouldn't have any hopes about their product being decent.

uh, its jimmy buffet's chain and he shows up at various locations spontaneously to give little concerts.

apparently JB doesnt give a shite about a quality product featured as the marquee.

You've obviously never been to the one in Jamaica.

You mean the one in Montego Bay?

Been to that one years ago on a cruise. I guess it was ok cause I don't remember it making me sick, but otherwise nothing stands out. I think people get too "ohh look, I'm at Margaritaville, LIKE THE SONG, haha" about the place and make it out to be better than it is.

Uh, first of all, it's a chain. Secondly, Jimmy is a musician (and a shitty one, at that). Why would you expect him to actually know shite about food & drinks? Clearly, the model is to get by on name recognition alone. I would expect nothing less than watered-down piss from a place like that.

It would be like going to Hard Rock Cafe and expecting the food there to be AMAZING

dang, did JB steal your girlfriend? the guy puts on a great show and i don't think its crazy to think the song that made him famous actually serve fresh drinks not from a mix.

clearly his business plan dictated otherwise.

i guess this goes along with the whole theme of restaurants with 'wings' in their name somewhere serve the shittiest wings around.

i will never understand why you would name something around a product that begs for quality and then cut corners.
