I might be willing to do some myself. I'm not totally incompetent. I've redone flooring, hung doors, etc. Can I just build over existing tile? Every time I've seen cabinet installation, it's new construction and flooring goes in after. Would only be a problem if we ever redid floors.
Also, do you think it'd be a hit on home value to pigeon hole yourself to front load washer/dryer? May change up and do them sided by side with a counter above for the wife to fold.

If you don’t need anything fancy, get upper and lower cabinets from home depot or lowes for less than $1000 total. 4 sheets of plywood and 3 1x3s will build the custom piece in the middle and that will cost you $225 and it’s a simple build. You’ll want to add the crown for continuity. What you have is a fairly simple 1.5 day project with painting and all and DIYing will save you about $2-3k. I don’t know how much you make in a day, but it might be worth it to do yourself.

Training for an Ironman right now, so not a whole lot of free time and energy. But may just put this project on hold and do it myself later. Fairly certain I can hang prefab cabinets. More concerned about doing it right. If I put them in the center like that, Id have to run the water and drain lines as well as the dryer vent behind the cabinets. Not sure if thats okay. Would be several feet.

Take pictures and measurements and go to a cabinet shop. I bet you can get them made at a good price
