Why? Because only people with medical doctorates should be called doctor?

What should people who earn a doctorate be called?

Why all the hate for a woman who earned her doctorate? She may go on to improve education in the US by leaps and bounds. Who knows?

Because they weren't able to achieve it. I'll lay any amount of money on the line that anyone posting so far in here that's making fun of her doesnt have a doctorate.

PhDs were the original doctors. Medical practitioners coopted the term “doctor” in the 19th century and, for some stupid reason, people now think they are the only ones who should get to use the title, even though “Doctor of Philosophy” is almost 1000 years old.
This is true.

That was also back when it wasn’t possible to obtain a PhD in something like “higher educational leadership”, whatever that is.

When you water down the field with useless things, it eventually makes everyone’s reputation suffer.

Her PhD is probably in “bloated public education bureaucracy and how to expand it”.

Yeah a PhD in engineering would’ve really helped me out

Wonder how many decades it’ll take her to pay off her debt

Congratulations to her to live with and succeed, with a retarded name.
Seriously, even though we may scoff at the title of Doctor, at least she isn't living in government housing sponging off the government.
I'm proud for her and anyone else who sets nice life goals and achieves them

I guess you make a fair point. I think the higher ed admin PhD is BS (btw F King has one of those—they are designed for people who want to run universities).

But the original academic discipline was theology. Not science. Not engineering. Theology. That was literally it. Just wondering where you would draw the line btweeen the new “BS” disciplines and the older “legit” disciplines?

It’s because her PhD is in higher education leadership.

I guarantee if it was in physics, biology, chemistry, philosophy, English, history, or any other classical field of study, significantly less shite would be talked right now.

It depends.

Scruffy makes a determination on a case by case basis.

Scruffy favors STEM fields though.

Yes.

No.

No idea how you equate liberal arts doctorates with STEM doctorates.

Dr. Marijuana Pepsi Vandyck has earned a PhD in higher education leadership from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee after handimng in her final dissertation on “Black names in white classrooms: Teacher behaviors and student perceptions.”

I doubt that most blacks will claim "Marijuana Pepsi" as a black name.

Because studying, understanding, and mastering the classical fields of knowledge is important. Liberal arts used to mean you were instructed in the ways of free thinking, debate, and critical and abstract problem solving. They were useful and used to serve as a benefit to society.

Unfortunately they have now been corrupted/co-opted into something else entirely. I was more just listing the classical categories of study
