A student-led Committee on Student Organizations made the decision to suspend Alpha Sigma Phi through March 24 and place the fraternity on probation until Dec. 11 because the requirements were tantamount to hazing, according to a school press release.

According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, pledges were forced to wear the backpack, carry fruit around campus and do errands for older fraternity members.

Now this is a frat suspension I can get behind

Good. That's unacceptable!

This is too far.
No one should be forced to wear Dora the Explorer

omfg, everyone needs to step back, take a deep breath, mind your own business and grow a pair. only reason it’s an issue is due to pledges complaining outside of said frat house, don’t like it, there’s the door...

My SO has one of those little fjallraven backpacks, it’s purple and I occasionally carry for her.
When I wear it, I call it the Jora the Explorer backpack and IDGAF.

Should have went with the “Where on earth is Carmen Sandiego” backpacks, more PC....

Good. That should be a charter revocation.
They should have done something less cruel, like pouring cayenne pepper on their nuts.

Fify. And they weren't forced to watch it. I could understand this decision if that were the case.

I would trade the "crab-crawl pig-foot baton team relay in three inches of ice" for wearing that for 3 months.

It pains me to see what's happening to Greek life on our campuses. Each and every day it becomes more pussified.
As a pledge I was forced to do all kinds of horrendous things. I have fond memories of a time when you could knock a kid unconscious with a Honey Baked Ham. A Dora the Explorer backpack would have been the highlight of my day.

Compared to forced drinking and getting hit, this “hazing” is very reasonable

Apparently pledges should just get to run for President of the fraternity now. This is weak compared to initiations of the past. At this rate, fraternities won’t exist in 10 years.
