Ehh not exactly. 24 hours ago things were still pretty iffy and there was just as much of a chance of a dud as there was of a significant event.

And he made that statement after every major model was on board for accumulating snow. I know winter weather is hard to predict in the south but how do they just ignore the models? What was he going on, his gut?

If it makes you feel any better, the weathermen here are just as bad. Can't tell you how many times they claim a massive snow and our office shuts down, just for it to be 2-3" or even less.

Not that I'm complaining - don't mind the extra day off work here and there.

There's still a lot of yellows moving up into the snow field from the southwest towards BR so we're going to keep getting these moderate snow falls for a while.

He tweeted the chances map yesterday evening, when all the models were predicting snow. It's neither here nor there, but the weather forecasters whiffed on this one.

Not all of them.

I admit we underestimated the coverage and amount, but we mentioned the possibility of those not predicted to get it to get more. We knew there would be snow, but where is hard to pinpoint in South Louisiana.

Saw about 7 or 8 flakes here in downtown NOLA a few minutes ago. But, I'm on the 17th floor....doubt they made it to the ground.

The undershot it for sure. Especially in central TX where the models didn't even pick up on that heavy band yesterday evening. I guess I'm more forgiving given how delicate these forecasts are: one degree in any layer of the atmosphere can have a significant difference.

Moisture feed is strongly in place out of the SW. Probably not as heavy as 730 this morning but I'm with you, probably going to have some steady snowfall here through early afternoon.
