Indeed. As of right now, I'm operating on the assumption that I will be telecommuting tomorrow or taking a half day of vacation. One thing I do know is that if that forecast pans out, I'm not getting on the road. I remember 2008 and Baton Rouge's epic game of "automotive curling" that went down.

yeah... the January ice storm here in Alex was more than I cared to handle dealing with ice-slick roads

I was a freshman at LSU that year. It was a nightmare, right in the middle of finals. It got ugly

It’s boring. Life could be worse.

They're playing it too conservative. Moisture won't be a problem with a low pressure getting rolling over the gulf. Betting that the cold won't roll in until too late I guess, but it's hard to argue with every short range modle, the GFS, and Euro here.

It really is astonishing. And again, they could end up being right but how can they so confidently go against the Euro, NAM and GFS who ALL show snow/sleet accumulation in the area? In 2008 no one predicted what happened and the models didn't show that kind of event, from what I remember. There have been other times where they predicted 2 inches and we got nothing but freezing rain for 2 days. I think they have a really crappy in-house model they use. Is there a meteorologist that works there?

I just had an epiphany... Peej is Pat Shingleton! It makes complete sense now.

I’d say the bigger concern is iced over bridges and the like with all the standing water.
