It’s been sleeting in Pineville for about 45 minutes. Why the hell would I make that up. If you live in CenLa just go check your Facebook for 1000 people talking about it

Near as I can remember they weren’t calling for much more than a light dusting of snow in 2008. I had nearly 9 inches of snow in Ponchatoula. It was crazy, I guess the conditions just lined up perfectly.

Is Lafayette projected to get any of this potential snow? Seems everyone is talking about BR and to the east :(

Latest model continues to show snow accumulation for Fri. morning but it's not taking melting or the warm ground into account. At best we may see a dusting of snow for grassy surfaces. More than likely it will be a wintry mix of rain and snowflakes. No travel issues expected.

Does anyone recall what the forecast called for before the big '08 snow? I don't think it called for much but ended up getting 6" in Madisonville.
I specifically remember noaa forecasting "up to 1/2 inch of wet snow"
Hammond got upwards of 6"

really, did they not see the cluster just a little rain caused ? add just a little snow/ice/sleet and it will be like bumper cars at an amusement park.

It's a matter of how cold the ground will be, specifically bridges. Right now it looks like snow falling, mixed with rain but just above freezing at ground level. Which should make roadways wet but not icy. Of course, melting the frozen stuff and the effect of some snow evaporating as it falls may drop temperatures just low enough to cause problems.

Cozart is one of the most consistently accurate local meteorologists I've seen and I'm a weather freak.

Dude consistently nailed the rainfall totals and locations in August 2016 and hasn't been wrong about much since I started following him on the Twitters a couple years ago.

Even though I moved away from Acadiana I still follow him.
