Current radar is starting to show some small pockets of a mix around Natchez.

88 pages on a storm that is about to drop an inch of snow?

Or 88 pages on a potential ice storm that would cause more damage than 8 inches of snow.

Again, our road infrastructure, cities and state do not have the equipment to handle this. We see this maybe once every 3-4 years and now it is happening twice in 5 days. We are also talking about ice not snow compared to most northern states.

That always puzzled me. We may overreact to winter weather, but other than wrecks we generally live through it

It's all relative. Last year there was a cold wave in India. Temperatures dropped into the thirties, and hundreds died.

Agreed. This is a gigantic joke. Not that southerners don't know what to do but that their government leaders are forewarned for weeks in advance about these storms and make no preparation in advance. They have to wait until the SECOND ice/snow event to get a game plan.
Keeping highways, bridges and streets clear is a basic service of state and city government in 90% of other states. This state has shown it can handle catastrophe. However, for any bit of snow or ice the answer is to simply shut down? Really? That is not an answer. The storm last week and tomorrow wouldn't phase any other part of the nation. Here the game plan is simply close everything. What a joke. Citizens of this state should expect more from their state and local leaders.
