Just how much of your state tax dollars do you want spent on an occurrence that happens once every 4-6 years?

Radar showing freezing rain just west of BR. Prepare your anus.
I'm seeing rain on the radar around Livonia but it's 40 degrees, I think everybody is fine right now. There is some mix north of woodville and massive amounts of mix around aggie land.

This state has shown it can handle catastrophe. However, for any bit of snow or ice the answer is to simply shut down? Really? That is not an answer. The storm last week and tomorrow wouldn't phase any other part of the nation. Here the game plan is simply close everything. What a joke. Citizens of this state should expect more from their state and local leaders.
I enjoy when posters make it clear right away in a thread that their total fricking idiots. Thanks

Definitely the best way to get your point across.

Street, bridge and road prep would likely be cheaper than paying countless hours of State trooper and police overtime. Not to mention the lost man hours that happen with a shutdown of state government.

Bingo. Grew up in an area where we saw ice storms 1-2 times each winter. So this was an area where it was expected...and it was still a HUGE pain in the arse. This is more like a once in a decade event for SELA. Better to wait for the "quick thaw" than sink taxpayer resources into something used less than Bea Arthur's twat.

Yup. Lived here for 7 years.
Just sayin you should expect more from your government services. We had ice storms many times up north but they never shut down a state for days. You might be without power for a day or two due to tree limbs but at least you could get to work and earn a living.
