We just need to make drugs illegal. That would solve all our problems.

You’ll never be able to stop people from voluntarily putting whatever they want into their bodies, especially if they’re doing it compulsively.

So the answer is no, there will never be an answer.

This was down voted, but sounded good to me...

kill them like they are doing in the Philippines. Cant get rid of drugs but you can sure as hell get rid of drug users. Kill em all.

Hell, take it a step further...they want drugs, just go ahead and inject them with the rest of their shite when you find them and turn their babies over to better people like they did here.

There's no solution needed...these people want to drug up to the point of almost death, frick em, it's a self solving problem if you let them take themselves out. Burn the bodies afterwards so it's not much of an expense or let the families pay for something more if they so choose, but frick trying to help people that can't and don't want to help themselves.

Well that is caused by shitty parenting 99% of the time...so I agree, we should take those parents out too, good point.

My dad just took my brother in yesterday to get help. Fortunately for him, he had a roof over his head and tons of support.

On the other hand, this 50'ish gal walks in with suitcase in tow requesting admittance to the program. They declined her admittance and she starts sobbing uncontrollably stating she has nowhere to go. Here is a woman who is trying to better herself and the one place that can help her tells her no.

I hope this drug czar person is able to push for more funding for these type of institutions. Until you've witnessed an OD first hand or drug dealers threatening your family, it's hard to comprehend the severity of the drug problem and I pray something will be done

Doctors will eventually invent a drug that makes you feel good and is healthy, like sex without the potential herpes.

Would not stop the crime and theft by hard drug users. Legal or not, drugs cost money.

Most will die. But I bet we'd see a huge increase in government programs to address drug use.

See: San Francisco

California governor is currently running on "clean needle use facilities".

The government even has to pay clean up crews to pick up dirty needles.

We have teenagers, in 2018, who are smoking, despite decades of evidence about how this is a terrible idea.

The high one gets from drugs, or the shelter from a personal low, means they will always be around.

No.

Drugs like heroin and meth (and crack, but it's not used nearly as much as it once was) are highly addictive an as long as there is a demand for them they will be around.. So unless there is away to stop the demand, then they will always be around.

I’ll never understand why people want to do heroin and meth and drugs like that. Weed was all I needed

The combined federal drug control budget request for Fiscal Year 2018 is $27.57 billion.

And there are a lot of jobs created from this. IMO, to some degree, I think that plays a role into why the government has no interest in legalizing drugs.
