Parenting has nothing to do with it. Drug users come from all walks of life, some from bad upbringings and some from good. You can't control your child's choices their entire life and especially not when they are an adult.

That's why there will never be a solution to the drug epidemic, people make that choice regardless of the consequences. Whether they are bored, want to fit in, trying to fill a void, rebelling, whatever reason people decide to do drugs. The only way it could ever stop is if people just don't want to get high any more and the dealers go out of business.

So you think there will be a huge increase in users if it's legalized? How many people you know.. thinks "I'd love to get addicted to heroin, I wish they would just legalize it so I can legally become a junky"?

No people I know would do it. That doesn’t mean there aren’t hundreds of thousands of idiots in the US who would.

Legalize it. Let natural selection decide who lives and dies.
As a middle aged man I can tell ya the answer to the question of "When were there no "Drug Lords"? Before Nixon declared a War on his fellow Americans, aka, the Drug War, there were no "Drug Lords".

Granted, there were some Asian Warlords who financed their activities selling opium (biggest customer? US Govt. in the form of the CIA) but they were warlords first and foremost.

So the answer to the OP of the thread of will we ever find a solution? We will when we remove the govt. from the equation. The govt. is behind the problem, as usual. Cause a problem then force reliance on govt. to solve it. Age old play ensuring stability of power. Drugs and specifically opiates have been a tool of war and govt since The 1842 1st Opium War at the least.

Let them use that crap until everything goes black. I just don't want them stealing my property to fund it.

If that sounds selfish, it was meant to.

Too many people would give anything to live normal lives, but can't through no fault of their own. I don't care for someone who willfully throws theirs away.

They declined her admittance and she starts sobbing uncontrollably stating she has nowhere to go. Here is a woman who is trying to better herself and the one place that can help her tells her no.

I've seen this before too. In some instances they are only looking to lay low for a while to get a reprieve from life or make a family member happy or like you said, they just have nowhere else to go. It's not that they want to get better. They're just out of better options to continue their destructive behavior.

But there are legitimate folks that need and want the help and the system just can't handle all of them. So you have good people trying to do better who can't use the resources due to people who aren't really trying to better themselves. It's a sad situation.

ETA good luck to your brother.

the obvious answer is to turn Florida into Hamsterdam

once you go in, you cant leave until you spend a pre-determined time in the clean zone (AKA The Panhandle)

Sorry I didn't come from trashy genetics, love, guidance, support, intelligence, etc. It all boils down to lack of help/support from the people that are going to be the ones to do it. As a stranger, do you or I give a shite about someone on drugs? If my brother or child is on drugs, you bet your arse I will forcefully put their arse some place to get help....and if they continue to repeatedly fail, God help them

Pain meds are legal. The problem is doctors overprescribing or basically dealing, big pharma supplying, pharmacies filling rx knowing the quantity is out of line, and most notably the users themselves.
