Nothing on NHC for next 5 days. GFS shows nothing for 2 weeks. Might be a quiet year baws!

In my rudimentary understanding, a lack of tropical activity would limit the reduction of energy/heat in the Gulf and Atlantic. Keeping the areas ripe for strong systems

All it takes is one to have a horrible hurricane season, if it hits your area.
Historically, the worst hurricanes hit in September. We still have a ways to go.

Bothe the 1969 and 1992 seasons experienced little to no activity in the first 80 days. Camille and Andrew were both late August storms in those seasons. We need to get through the end of September before breathing any sort of sigh of relief.
