You better believe the politicians are going to try to default to shutdown from now on anytime anything at all happens. They love flexing their authority muscles.

Without a doubt.
Some people would like to see us in a full blown lockdown with the national guard patrolling and shooting anyone outside.

the media will run with stories to help both of the above
that leaves everyone else...but if history is correct, sadly most will be good sheep and fall in line
the real scary part is thinking about what would happen with an actual pandemic that had a high death rate and was lethal to all age and health levels equally

We swallowed this one no problem, hell a good portion of the population is begging for it to be extended. Now the gov't knows they can have us over a barrel any time they want.

These shutdowns are going to cause more damage than fix things. The financial repercussions are going to affect some people for awhile. Feel bad for them.

I dunno if citizens will 'take' another shutdown, but hopefully lessons will be learned and some type of after action review like big companies due after an event will be done.
- Make a determination of what damage was done both medically and financially from this one and what the detrimental effects of both the disease and the lock downs were.
- Have some effective tracking of emerging pathogens and a mechanism to put plans into place when there is a decent possibility that one will blow up.
- Have a plan in place to either establish robust domestic manufacturing of things like medical supplies, medicine, etc. or alternatively, have a plan in place to ramp up this manufacturing quickly in the event it becomes necessary.
- Determine things like how much less economic damage would have been done here if we had stayed open but the rest of the world had still shut down like they did.

They will if they get that second stimulus that gives them 2 grand a month for a minimum of six months.
