Not an arrogant attitude at all. Perhaps they have that option? Who are you to judge just because they don’t see things the way you do?

I am telling you that there is. no way summer camps are open on 6/1. There are very powerful people that are already discussing contingencies for not starting school in August.

I find that remarkably unbelievable and insane, but it is happening. I have been one to say that we will be completely normal mid summer........it appears some are loving this.

I’m not judging anyone for not seeing it my way. They are welcome to care for their children however they wish and can afford

My son’s summer camp is cancelled until July, and they said they’ll let us know by June 1 regarding their plans for July. He’s going somewhere because I can’t do this half arse work situation any longer. He will end up going to his little sisters preschool’s summer program for older kids if nothing else is open. Not my first choice for him but I also don’t want to get fired.

Little red schoolhouse here in Old metairie will be open and running june 1 in shifts, some kids go Mon, Wed, Fri and other go Tues Thurs, but that is only for phase 1

Assuming JBE goes to phase 2 june 5th, they will be running full capacity after just 1 week

Newman cancelled camps all summer, so my boys will be here with me until August. Fun times.

June 28th camps will be good to go but not camps earlier than that.

Also word is that Newman will be online or Best case scenario is a hybrid online/2 day schedule in the fall Lot of other parents are looking at home school options for this year

FWIW, I've seen some overnight camps being cancelled for the entire summer. Some day camps are going ahead, with modifications, and others have already been cancelled. Anything with LSU is out.

There doesn't seem to be a standard, and it is all subject to change. Last week's "in the know" rumors about no on-campus school until January was enough for me.

If true people are insane to continue to pay 20k for that

And where do these rumors come from? Phase 2 has schools opening. Are people thinking phase 1 will never end?

That's what my peeps who are involved with summer camps are saying as well.
They are also saying some of the camps are choosing to not open because of the crazy arse amount of requirements they will be required to follow due to "safety".

Sounds like Camp Abby is going to be a day camp kind of place for the summer. Sad that my boy won't be going this year.

Correct

No reason for camps/school not to be fully open in phase 2(hopefully june5)except for then choosing not to

There are phased openings right now because of the 10 person limit

The schools must meet CDC requirements and National Education Association standards. School administrators don’t want to risk lawsuits is what I was told but also aren’t sharing this info with teachers and parents because they are worried about enrollment numbers.

Newman charges 20k per student

If parents are dumb enough to pay that and Newman still is online because they don’t want to “deal with” adding measures, more power to them

I understand that the guy from KNOE TV back in the 70's is out and hosting another summer camp.

I'd not recommend that particular camp.

Not widespread around here really but maybe elsewhere. Where do you live? Around BR I think we’ll see numerous small capacity day camps starting up mid June.

Programs that serve a routine high volume of campers will look to open as feasible. Look at your cities parks and rec department or your local YMCA. While of course each area will make its own guidelines, I don’t know if the ACA (American Camp Association) has put our definitive news. Many camps, both overnight & day camp, look to the ACA for guidance. Same with the NRPA (National Parks and Rec Association).

I’d find any that you would be interested in and join their email lists now. Spots will fill very fast and you want to know when registration opens.

If you live in places with ongoing shutdown ideology, that will not be the case. Public agencies will not be allowed to host camps and private business camps will be restricted.

My friends on the Board at Newman would be surprised to know they will be online in the fall. BS rumor.

As to Newman camp, they wanted to open but could not get any guidance from the Mayor as to any policies for camps. The Mayor's office refused to return calls on this.

BS rumor.

That's what this guy enjoys doing on this board. He mixes BS and half truth stuff in with real things and loves the confusion he causes.
