I don't really have a strong opinion on it being fake (one way or the other), but I am a bit curious as to why security let him waltz on stage, go back to his seat, and continue to shout from the crowd.

If you were working the event, beforehand you could believe it was just a bit and hesitate, but you'd think they'd have at least stepped in after the slap, right?

I can't believe how many people are shocked that one of the most recognizable people in the business gets special treatment at an event sucking off people in that business

Looking over and seeing the wife give the “You better do something or you’re cut off” look makes a man do stupid shite.

Looks like people still fall for dumb publicity stunts.

You would think in this day, cynicism would rule.

For a bunch of southern slow-draw bubbas that hate everything Hollywood, why does discussing the Oscars slap get close to 40 pages on this site?

meh, still ain't buying it, as a few have pointed out, you don't stand there with your hands behind your back literally sticking your face out to make a better target when someone draws their hand back to hit you

You reacted differently the last time you were standing on a stage hosting a live event in front of celebrities and millions of viewers and one of the most famous people in the world walked up to you like he was going to say something, except he did the unpredictable and hit you?

Kudos to you. I'm not sure how I would act or react in that super common scenario.

Also props to Smith's dedication to his craft. Choosing to the play the role that makes him look like an insane person, sell it more than any other bit done on that stage, and then crying after just to sell the emotional issues, is pretty legit acting.

You mean people who can spot fake drama when you can't?

I'll bet you read TMZ every day.

I don't give a shite about the Oscars but I like Chris Rock - I've always liked his comedy - and I've enjoyed Will Smith's acting and music since I was a kid. That's why I care. Plus this is some bizarre shite that I've never seen before.

tbh a way better performance than the shite "best actor" Oscar he wins later (convenient, right? remember: they just kicked Kanye off Grammys for mean/threatening tweets but the same industry just allowed a man who moments earlier assaulted another man receive the best award of the night) for King Richard

If it’s fake, why does it take 40 pages to come to this conclusion?

You people never cease to amaze me on here… I can’t imagine what you all are like off the tablets.

I doubt his status would really be enough to keep him from getting thrown out of an awards ceremony.

Plenty of celebrities have been removed from events for far less.

The fact that he got to stay, accept an award, give a speech with a standing ovation, and hug people on the way out AFTER the ceremony wrapped up tells me this is nothing but fake.

An assault is an assault and people thinking the Academy Security was just like “oh well, it’s Will Smith, what can we really do about it?”

maybe because this is a discussion board and it's been pretty slow on here for a few weeks, I can honestly say that I've never watched the Oscar's and I'm nearing medicare eligible age

I watched King Richard, and I didn't think his acting was that great tbh. I didn't think the movie was very good - period. I thought it was boring.
