possibly, but Will Smith looks pretty bad after what happened...unless that was some kind of Andy Kauffman level troll. I don't know why WS would do something like that at this point in his career unless he's lost his mind.

This has to be the longest thread in TD history that started with the worst title ever.

This was “WOW FIGHT ON TV” for 30 pages.

Super fake, they are actors.

Notice before Will is walking on stage, CR is already waiting with his head bowed down and both arms in back.

Also, there is no reaction whatsoever. Super staged, they need the ratings.

What's awesome about this thread and the arguments in it is that no matter how obvious it seems that this was real and Smith is just another insane celebrity, the fact that this happened on a stage and involved actors is enough to allow the fake crowd to dig in and just use every variable of the story as proof that it's fake. No matter how absurd it sounds, all you gotta say is "THEY ARE ACTORZZ" and that's proof.

Roger is in here being definitive and calling others rubes and morons for disagreeing with his take, so everyone factor that in. That usually means the opposite of whatever he's saying.

But they did so off camera and someone in the cheap seats caught it on a phone.

Tons of people keep saying fake, but there are some things that make it really difficult for it to be fake. The main thing being that there is no way the Academy Awards and ABC would have allowed a joke/bit where Chris Rock makes fun of Jada Pinkett-Smith's health condition that causes her lack of hair and where Will Smith repeatedly screams the F-word on live TV. Furthermore, after Will Smith stops screaming, Chris Rock has an entire sentence that is just jibberish like he has been totally caught off guard by the whole thing and is at a loss for words for a few seconds.

If it was fake, it would have to have been an inside thing just between Chris Rock and Will Smith and not involving those producing the show.

Jaden Smith Breaks Down In Tears After Dad Will Smith Slaps Chris Rock At The Oscars

Viewers at home were shocked when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock during the Oscars on March 27, and now, the actor’s son, Jaden, is revealing why the evening made him ‘cry’.

Imagine being stupid enough to believe this shite.

Classic publicity stunt, social media obliges, stupid rubes fall for it.

It's like if a rock band was on a rock stage and walked out with guitars and full gear, but just decided to read their lyrics from a teleprompter with no music. If someone played a guitar riff or sang a note would it be fake?

It was written (not even by Rock) and on the teleprompters.

Be win the Oscar and no one is taking about how he won the Oscar. I really don't think this was the publicity the Smith camp wanted. Though there is a larger scarier discussion being waged over this. The kind of stuff Dave Chappelle was warning about.

Since when is there an embargo on jokes about alopecia? JPS was laughing about it on her Instagram recently. It’s not a taboo subject…until last night. Totally ballpark for Chris Rock’s humor.

Sounds like a case of Rock telling Smith before the ceremony to go back to his seat and keep the gag going by getting chatty after the slap. Im sure that in the heat of the moment, “frick” came to mind and Smith didn’t care about the censors.

He stopped himself from telling another joke at Smith’s expense and got caught up on one word. It wasn’t an “entire” sentence of jibberish.
