Probably ten minutes or so. There is less evidence in this trial than the one I served in a jury on, and we took about 10-15 min.
do you also get all this stuff in the jury room during deliberations?
just curious as I've never served on a jury before
ETA: I assume so... but just confirming

We did not. Once we went back to deliberate, we were able to request one piece of evidence at a time to look over. We had all pretty much agreed that he was guilty, and just wanted to look over one piece of evidence a final time.

Yeah, even if Hayes is found not guilty, his life is never going to be what it was before this happened.
One person who should get shite for the rest of his life is Hernandez. What a POS.

His life was already ruined
He had no chance
Let this be a lesson about choosing your friends

I don't think anyone is going to argue with you over that....

as I've said before... through the evidence and testimony so far at hand... if anyone "deserved" to get capped that night, it was him

The one we put away was 16 years old when he committed the murder. Gang retaliation. Sad shite.
One of the most vivid experiences of my life, actually. I'm glad I did it, but I never want to do it again, if that makes sense.

God this sucks that he gets to live life on while others pay/paid the price.
I don't doubt he has remorse. When keeping it real goes wrong I guess

doubtful, the only justification they think they have on Will is due to claim he was going for his gun as the threat...

I've always wanted to be on a jury
This just magnifies it

My two year waiver is over.
I could be summoned again at any time. Hopefully it's not a murder trial if I have to serve again.

oh yeah...
I got a civil court jury summons... I was hoping for more criminal... never had to actually serve on a case
guess the chance for sitting on a murder case jury is less now that I no longer live in Orleans Parish... rather I'm now in Rapides

Only some of it.
Except as provided in Paragraph B of this Article, a juror must rely upon his memory in reaching a verdict. He shall not be permitted to refer to notes or to have access to any written evidence. Testimony shall not be repeated to the jury. Upon the request of a juror and in the discretion of the court, the jury may take with it or have sent to it any object or document received in evidence when a physical examination thereof is required to enable the jury to arrive at a verdict.

It's just interesting to me
With my luck I'd be stuck on a case where some dude rolled a stop sign
Throw the book at him!!!!

Sat on a murder jury in Jefferson back in, I guess 2006 or 2007. 3-4 day trial. Guy accused of killing one of his neighbors in an apartment complex- kind of by the bestbuy on vets. we finally convicted and sent away for life.
You would be shocked and appalled at the stupidity of some of the makeup of a jury of your peers.
I'll never forget that experience. We had one hold out. A Canadian woman from the West Bank that told us straight up in the beginning of deliberations that no matter what she didn't trust any police and basically without a video of the man doing it she just didn't know.
We finally got her to come around. It dear god she was a freaking moron and definitely not one of my "peers."
The judge actually met with us for a few minutes and said we got it right. Apparently the guy we convicted also was once convited on a mandlaughter beef, gotten out. The Circumstances of the manslaughter beef were almost exactly the same as the one we just convicted on. We didn't get to hear about the first one at our trial.
It won't shock me one bit if Hayes walks.
