Unless you like country music at Tiger Stadium.

ETA: Or some blues downtown... Blues Fest was a great time.

but baton rouge will never be a great city without major and massive improvements to its transportation infrastructure.

You mentioned road infrastructure but didn't touch on airport. I haven't been through your airport in a while but it sucked when I did. Has that been improved any?

However, Baton Rouge's location between Lafayette and New Orleans makes it an awful music draw. Bands used to kick off their world tours at the pmac, but br city government and the lsu administration destroyed rock n roll in baton rouge through taxes on entertainment venues, dui enforcement, strict censorship of musical acts, and strict no alcohol policies. Once the cajun dome and uno lakefront arena were built, baton rouge fell off the map of the music scene.

Who is Lafayette pulling that BR isn't? I've driven to New Orleans for shows countless times, but never to Lafayette. And I've been to a lot of great shows in BR. I'm going to one tonight actually.

These are very recent, and great developments for the city. Hopefully, they will gradually bring the big tours back through here. However, Baton Rouge was THE city back in the 60s, 70s, and 80s to kick off a tour because every band (The Who, The Clash, The Rollin' Stones, Bon Jovi, Elton John, KISS, Led Zepplelin, ect) knew they would get a sold out show and a wild crowd. In the late 80s, the city cracked down, but the crowds stayed epic. Then, the drinking age was raised, LSU kicked the alcohol off campus, taxes were increased on performing acts, and Baton Rouge was abandoned for greener pastures (Lafayette, New Orleans, and Biloxi).

Avenged Sevenfold played there last week. Every major metal act plays either the Cajun Dome or the Station in Broussard. Alter Bridge, Keith Urban, Ozzy, ect. Most bands that stop in New Orleans also play a gig in Lafayette the night before or after. They just bypass Baton Rouge.

No state income tax.
Community parks everywhere.
No more paying for private school, with neighborhood schools much newer and more advanced than the private and public schools where we lived.

Oh...and a higher income, which is typical going from LA to TX. For example, public school teachers in the school districts for our county START around $50k per year now.

This guy gets it. BR blows due to horse crap libtard politics and crony-ism running the budget.

First off I work for one of these companies listed and I can promise you that it's just not corporate types that live in the Woodlands. Normal supervisors and Operators (what you call plant workers) live there also.

In Louisiana because of cost of living your "normal plant worker" is living in a house as nice or nicer than what you find in the Woodlands.

If LC had someone forward thinking in charge so much of south LC is undeveloped it could easily be turned into a smaller version of the Woodlands with the influx of population coming in.

The cost of housing in Baton Rouge (which this thread is centered around) is way higher than the Woodlands. Houses in Baton Rouge aren't comparable to the new construction in the Woodlands. If you are talking about Lake Charles only, I can't speak to that because I don't know.

No, it couldn't.

Baton rouge has 300,000 people in its metro area. New Orleans has about one million in its and due to its status as a world class tourist destination, it bas entertainment options that far exceed other cities its size.

The Woodlands are nice as frick, but I would be bored to tears if I lived there. And this is coming from someone that lives in BR.
