I agree. I've lived in Lafayette, Baton Rouge, New Orleans and The Woodlands. The bottom line is, nothing compares to home. I'm lucky to work in the woodlands, but decided to move further out to the country to get away from the shoe-horned housing and sprawl.

You would be bored in the woodlands but find entertainment in Baton Rouge?

BR real estate I feel is in a constant bubble. It's so artificially inflated that's it's not even funny.

What about Tsunami? That's real nice. North Boulevard Town Square is nice and there's usually a festival or something going on.

Downtown Y is pretty freaking nice. I heard the Rock worked out there while he was shooting the last G.I. Joe movie and he had nice things to say about it. Fairly cheap too.

Better sports entertainment in BR. Better music entertainment in Woodlands.

do you think The Woodlands is this unique Utopian oasis that cannot be replicated or something?

No, but an upscaled place like The Woodlands or Plano exist close to well developed and very large scale cities, not shitty places like Lake Chuck. Being upity in LC is like Ole Miss folks thinking they are high and mighty... Its still Mississippi hahaha

I have worked in the Woodlands petrochemical HQ before and preferred not to live there while doing so...decided to commute from the Clear Lake area instead. I'm not crazy about the Woodlands at all. I realize that some people like living that style of life but for me its too boring...sort of like people wanting to shun reality and go back to the 50's. I loved the BR culture when I lived there and would not want it to aspire to be dull and pasty like the Woodlands.

Yes. Being as I'm a 25 year old that doesn't like Dave Matthews Band and the like, I don't see what's so hard to believe about that.

Of course. Just as we are ignoring everything NOLA for BR options.

Where can one see a show other than Cynthia Woods Pavillion? Anywhere to see small indie acts? Dive bars? Honest question.

And are we just going to ignore the fact that one of the musical Meccas of America is 1 hour south of Baton Rouge?

And The Woodlands is close to getting a minor league baseball team.

I grew up just west of The Woodlands. I hated that place because it was very upity and snooty, but I would gladly take it over BR. It is a little boring, but Houston has everything you will need and more. And again, your kids can go to public school on the north side of Houston and not come out fuqed up. The place to be if you work in The Woodlands is Montgomery. More country, do not pay Woodlands taxes, and while Lake Conroe sucks, it is right there.

You have a point. If we ignore a facility in Woodlands that consistently books world touring acts. And group one of the great music cities in the country as "BR music scene" than yes, BR would be better.

Apparently not. I just wish baton rouge and its surrounding suburbs had anything like the kind of sensible road infrastructure that the woodlands possesses.

I've visited my cousin and her husband that live there a few times. It seems like a fantastic place to raise a family, I just never have gotten the impression that I'd enjoy living there as a single 20-something person, which I don't think is that ridiculous of a statement. I like things a little dirty and weird.

I was being honest when I asked about other music venues besides the Woods Pavillion, or if there are any cool dive bars and the like. Is there a decent indie or art scene there?

You clearly have not seen the talent to come out of there....
