Found Rhoda on Amazon Music. Going in my library.
I will see how closely the wife listens to the words while were rolling in the car.

I don't know what kind of music you like, op, but as far as music I like, there are more great bands right now than there have been in the last 20 years. Some of them are even selling out sizable venues. They're not on the radio but they have millions of YouTube views and streams on streaming services. (which is where new music is now). But you can't just turn on the radio or TV and have them introduced to you anymore.

They could if they made good music and not just screaming in a microphone with a rhythm guitar guy and coked out drummer

was the Foo Fighters ever really any good? Yeah they check the right boxes but did they ever offer anything as good as Nirvana? Or Guns and Roses?

Bands never went away. Hard rock/metal is booming right now and it isn't due to solo artists.
Blink 182 is playing a tour of the southeast right now and regularly selling out 10k to 80k venues.
Casual listeners that have only heard their radio hits hate on them a lot, but their catalog as a whole is incredible and easily one of the best bands of the 2000s. Maybe all time.

In the event anyone is looking to start up a band, Roger knows an 86 year old keyboard ex cruise band member that’s now on a solo tour at a Supermarket near you.

Shaky Knees was almost entirely live bands and sold out for 3 days.
Bands aren’t dead, but they are a garbage business.

Agree here, I've been to 5 concerts this year and everything I listen to has a live band. Not sure what OPs favorite genre is, but if you only listen to the radio and pop music, you're missing out.

It's weird to see people who don't listen to rock in the wild, like seeing an antifa walking down the street in your hometown. Just, I KNOW you're real, but it never really hit me until I actually saw one of you weirdos.

Take the Who for example. Daltrey, Townshend, Moon the Loon, and Thunderfingers. When Pete Townshend is the weak link in your group
He makes no emotional connection to the audience, and looks bored.
I wish The Who had been a trio, like The Jam. What you lose in technical range, you more than gain in emotion.

There may be a kid out there who can shred the guitar,

you may never see a band of musicians anymore that are the top of their craft

I kinda agree. All these pop stars and rap stars using computer generated sound. Their voices are even modified.
Prince used to hate it. He’d make comments about how he was actually singing and playing instruments.

Rock bands are still a thing. Although that genre gets buried by shitty pop, rap, and bro country.

Billy Corgan from the Smashing Pumpkins said it best. Record labels want to be able to control their talent. Solo artists are easy to control. Bands, especially rock bands, aren't easy to control, and tend to be unpredictable. The labels don't like that. He also said something along the lines that the popular 90s bands (ie. his band, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sound Garden, etc ..) probably ruined it for future bands because they refused to do what the record labels told them to do and the labels hated it.

Taylor Swift performs with a band. I think they are called The Taylor Swift Band.

This. Not a fan of TW at all, but I have heard she performs live with her band. Mistakes and all.

I miss the Iron Maiden, Ozzy, and Motley Crue concert days. Fork taylor swift.

There are plenty of bands making music, just have to know where to look and listen. It's not mainstream and I don't know if it ever will be again.
