See an Orthopaedic doctor. As stated, is probably herniated disc (aka pinched nerved), especially if you've been lifting weights or straining in general.
Ignore everyone who says chiropractor, physical therapist, or acupuncturist. Trust me from experience. (Some chiros and acupuncturists can help but the odds are slim.)
A doctor will probably only be able to prescribe anti-inflammatory medicine, though, such as Naproxin (aleve), ibuprofin, etc. It might not work immediately, but after a few days it will get better. You'll probably need something like 400 of 500mg of Naproxin. You can also get a steroid shot which can help some.

Get a massage.
This.
If you actually feel a knot there a massage will do much more than an RX pad.

I'm allergic to Naproxen, I believe. Last couple of times I've taken Aleve or Naproxen Sodium generic, I've had a severe reaction to it. I don't know if it's he Naproxen or another ingredient, but something in it fricks my world up.

I had something similar and I went to a PT and had dry needling done and felt much better. No meds and the pain was gone in two days

It's weird cause I had taken Aleve before and not had any issues, but now, among other things, my mouth will breakout and be completely full of ulcers. It's very painful. The couple of times it's happened, I've had to go get a lidocaine suspension to swish with so I could eat. It does a number.

Yeah, no. I've never kept secret the fact that I'm an amazon & not OT hot. I'm less fat than I was when I had it removed years ago.

Buy a foam roller and roll it out.
Otherwise, if you can take the pain, just rest. Surprised so many people are recommending doctor visit

There was a massage place in Covington you could have gone to, but they closed recently.
Have the girlfriend hit it again. Drink water afterwards.
If it is a constant problem, try a Theracane. I like the one I have.

Might benefit from NSAID, muscle relaxer, and/or trigger point injection.
Need history and physical exam to rule out rare but dangerous diagnoses.
