Spinoff from the 16 reasons being child free is awesome thread.

I’m 26 and the SO and I have agreed not to start having kids until 32/33. Going to fully enjoy all my time while I’m young to travel and knock things off the bucket list before all my money goes to raising kids.

Plus, still having kids at home in your late 40’s and 50’s will keep you young.

another "having kids" question: why do people (typically low to mid 20s) get married and them IMMEDIATELY spit out a kid?

Pretty simple. If you or the SO has known reproductive issues, and further age only lowers your chances that much more. What if the time comes to start having kids (assuming you do actually both really want them), and you suddenly discover that either your boys are not swimming or your wife has some condition that could cause her to never be able to get pregnant?

Honestly, there ought to be some sort of law preventing marriage before 25ish, and childbearing prior to 30ish.

I know, nanny state and all that, i get it’ll never happen- but i just know too many people who had children waaay too young and everyone’s fricked up.

You essentially give up your 20s or 40s (30s is a given either way with kids)

I knocked my wife up when I was 29. No regrets. We'll still be late 40s when we are empty nesters.

I didn't have a kid until I was 35, and I kind of wish I had started earlier. My parents were 24 when I was born, and I liked having parents who were a little younger than most of my friends

Because they're in college when you're in your 40's

kinda asked this in the last thread. I swear it's regional/cultural. Take us for example..we're both 30 and have been married for 1 year this month..I'm from NOLA and noone I know or my family expects us to have kids for awhile...her family is from North Louisiana and very country.... their minds are blown that we haven't had one yet.

Actually, my wifes cousin is in his 20's and still living at home and just knocked up his fiance....My reaction was OH shite that sucks...they were excited

had the first at 20 and the last at 35. I will say this, i felt a lot more confident in the decisions i made with the last one than i did with the first one.

But, a lot of the running around seemed easier with the first one.

Thats actually the perfect age. Wait too much longer though and you're kinda playing with fire.

If you have to "get rid" of them, then why have them at all?

Oh look. Another person who thinks that everyone else's reasoning should match up with theirs.
