agree. Rolex is king and much like Ferrari they go to great lengths to protect their brand.

I've wondered, recently, the extent to which a brand like Patek is outsourcing. I feel like Thierry will do anything to make a quick buck and I would not be surprised if some of the manufacturing for the lower-end (relatively) stuff (sub $100,000) is outsourced to China.

Outside of Seiko they are the most vertically integrated watch company in the world.

I haven’t kept up on the detail in the last few years, but would you say Nomos is beginning to approach this level of integration as well, or do they still have gaps?

That's 100% incorrect.

They could possibly get there but they aren't there. And there is a difference still in a purely German watch and a purely Swiss watch

While I know you know this most people don't; Rolex is wholly owned by a charitable trust: the Hans Wildorf Foundation. The foundation's mission is for the betterment of the cantons of Switzerland, and in particular, Geneva. They simply don't have the impetus to chase short-term profit like publically owned companies do.

To add to that, Rolex has spent literally billions of Swiss Francs building the most advanced watch manufacturing facilities in the world.

Of course; I brought up Nomos in the context of expanding the conversation to Seiko.

The company that is deriving their own 904l stainless steel in-house is going outsource their manufacturing to china?

Tell me how little you know about Rolex without telling how little you know about Rolex.

At the end of the day , it does not matter about outsourcing.

There is Rolex and there are watches…

And you can drop your phone if you’re constantly taking it out of your pocket.

Yes, but frequently looking at your watch while someone is speaking is also extremely rude.

What's next, you're gonna tell me that "genuine leather" isn't actually real, quality leather?

Hell of a lot easier to do a slight stretch and look than whip out a phone

Man who gives a shite?
I just bought a football jersey from the same factory the NFL uses for there’s. It’s identical and 20% the price.

This is either the unknown, forgotten or simply ignored piece of information from "watch guys" that shite on Rolex from there perch atop the earliest of peaks on the Dunning-Kruger Effect Curve.
