Wonder why this entitlement program is praised by the right wing loons?

Oh frick off with this shite. It was founded by a right wing loon with his own money to help those deserving but less fortunate. Your progressive friends in the legislature fricked it up and now don’t have the balls to end it.

Because that would be a violation of the 14th Amendment Privileges and Immunities Clause?

The answer Louisiana should have: we've created/are creating all of these jobs in a variety of different industries in order to line our graduates up for success and in turn receive a return on our tuition investment.

Louisiana cannot change its demographics. Shitty schools and crime are here to stay. Good jobs are not going to come to Louisiana magically. We can change TOPS but we cannot bring jobs here.

Can confirm. Went to SELU for free, moved to Austin to get a job.

The reality is that LA creates more college graduates than entry-level jobs for college graduates.

On the other hand, Texas creates more entry-level jobs for college graduates, then actual college graduates.

Free market being what it is, the ones that can't / won't get a job in LA, go to Texas.

TOPS has to be one of the most socialists programs in the history of these United States. But people don't want to admit that.

There aren’t good, high paying jobs.
They all go to Texas.

Many reasons why, tort reform one of the main.

This woe is me, defeatist attitude is exactly why Louisiana will always be a shithole.

I believe our corrupt politicians and demographics are why we will always live in a shitehole.

We cannot just all have positive attitudes like care bears and hope for the best then things will change.

Vote them out. Run for office yourself. Work to change Louisiana into a business friendly state that will entice companies to create jobs to keep the educated population from leaving.

If you use tops and leave the state after you graduate from college, you should have to pay back the TOPS scholarship.

The purpose of the top scholarship is to educate Louisianians. Any good reason this isn’t law?

The way to re-structure this is decrease the $$ Tops gives kids by 30% and put that $$ into state account for the kid.

When they graduate and take a job in Lousiana, Tops "part 2" kicks and that money is distributed to that kid over the next 3-5 yrs he/she works in Louisiana.

If you take the restructured Tops and leave the state, so be it. That 30% goes back into the system.
It lets the graduate make the decision to subsidize staying in La for some much needed experience in that 3-5 yr window after college. Or he/she can forgo that money for bigger salaries elsewhere.

Win win for errybody. Mikelbr 2020.

I don't know if you read the part about the demographics shift. Because all jobs are leaving this place the trash is starting to outnumber the non-trash. We cannot vote out people when we don't have the numbers.

You mean race? Because I am speaking about a lot more than that. Demographics covers a lot.

They are 10 spots plus ahead of us in education, Georgia has far more millionaires and billionaires than us. SC is ahead of us in millionaires. I don't think Georgia is comparable to us in demographics by any standard.

The simplest solution is to just raise the requirements. It is not a difficult fix.

How does that help retention?

Yeah why actually try to get your shite together as a state to entice people to stay and work when you can just big government the frick out of it and make it mandatory?

maybe the lazy welfare-lovin TOPS recipients should get their shite together and learn how to pay for their own college, instead of having big government give them a handout.
