Can you mix in a growth regulator with the paint? I bet it could easily half how frequently it has to be sprayed.
I know they have thought about it... but apparently our field guys are concerned since we use the fields for multiple sports.
Also wouldn't it be weird to have the grass that's painted a different height? We only cut grass once a week.

Biggest issue I have with local businesses is that they're not flexible with hours, everything has to be done on their time. Where with larger companies they can work around my schedule easier. Not to mention larger companies usually being much cheaper and less of a threat to go out of business this me losing my warranty

Our time is worth something. To the time spent shopping local (or at least looking locally), add the cost of gasoline.
My example: me. 25 miles to the center of the nearest major shopping city. That's a gallon of gas both ways. Sitting in traffic...couple of tenths of a gallon.
Go into store (having called in advance to see ifthey have the part, told me yes). Well, mam, we're out of it today, but we'll have it in in two days. We drive in two days later. No part. Leave our phone number. Two and an half months later I get a call that the part is in. I say no thanks, I got it over the internet two days after I was in you place two and a half months ago.
This is a local store of appliance parts that in the business part of town used to be excellent. But they got bought out and moved out to near Farragut. Now they are not worth the drive or a phone call, or multiple phone calls.
We needed stainless steel wood screws of a specific length. When to the local store that specializes in such. But that didn't have the length we needed. Internet again.
I needed black, heavy duty denim. None to be had locally. Called one upholstery supplier up in Indiana. They checked what they had and told me that the weight wasn't heavy enough. Ordered it from New York City.
Etc,

I sat in Home Depot for thirty minutes trying to get someone to pull something heavy from a top shelf. So, many people came by and said they would send a person. Not sure how this relates exactly but this was after 5PM.

I went to Breaux Bridge Hardware af 12:30 on a Saturday and they were closed. I couldn’t believe it, I called later during the week to ask about it and the lady said that after noon everyone is in Lafayette anyways so there’s no reason to stay open.

The biggest problem is I see it is lack of selection locally.
Nobody locally carries what the big box stores doesn't have.
Local businesses need to find their niche market which is going to be retailing high-quality goods. The big box stores already have the volume discounted, cheap, Chinese crap Market cornered.

I agree. I use Coburn's and Nu-Lite all the time but I'm not talking about trade and industrial suppliers and retailers. I'm talking about consumer retailers.

I was looking for a bike trailer and helmet recently. I went to 3 local bike shops, because I like to support local as well. All three offered pretty much no help. One guy says you can go online and see what you want, then come in here and we can order it.
Now I realize these guys bread and butter is $2k+ bikes and service, but I was looking at $400+ trailers. At least offer guidance, pull out catalogs, or bring it up online at the store. By telling me to go online, he basically said do it yourself. All three had not one customer in the store at the time

I mean, those big boxes are competing against industrial distribution way more so than retail

I would consider bad service at a bike shop very rare. As said, that's one business where local usually kills anyone else.
At the same time, what kind of bike service are you getting somewhere like Academy or any other big box that sells bikes? Pretty poor.
But yes I agree, if you are a mom and pop and don't offer great customer service then there is almost no reason to be in the business imo.

After all three, we went to REI . Was night and day different, they even pulled out trailers from boxes in the back. The rep showed everything and pulls out his phone for more options and explains the differences. Now I would not consider REI a normal big box store but they kind of still are.

The local bike shop by me is open 7-330 M-F. No weekends. Insane.
Some of these franchise deals are a mess, too.
We wanted to buy my daughter a new bedroom set. She picked out one from Ashley when we were looking online. Got the price.
Went to the local Ashley store. Same exact bedroom set as online, $350 more expensive. When we asked them to match online price, we were told they were a franchise, and did not match the prices online.
I said thanks, walked out, and ordered it online and saved $350.

It ain't my line, but if someone wanted to buy 30 gallons of paint from me I'd stay open late for the buyer or have it delivered.

Very few people are in a position where they can get off of work to stop by the store before 5 pm.
Really?
You could also go during your lunch break, if it's that important to you.

As I said earlier, work is around 35 min away.
I could find another retailer as well.
