You guys missed a hell of a race and a great finish.
I wasn't a fan of the finish.
I know nobody wants to finish under yellow but that was a bad call by the org. to try and race with less than 2 laps left.
You can't even get tires warmed up in one lap of green flag racing. Ericson got robbed.
ETA: I'd say a live event that can put close to 230,000 asses in the seats is still pretty relevant but I do miss Indycar before the split and I really miss the heydays of CART after the split.

The creation of IRL splitting off from “Indy Car” and the separate CART series was set the downfall in motion.
This is when I noticed it’s decline.
It’s still the largest sports event. I went twice in the early 90’s. It was a blast & I was on edge the whole race. The whole weekend is a party. I’d love to go back

I remember it being a really big deal as a kid. Everybody knew who Johnny Rutherford and AJ Foyt and Mario Andretti were. ABC would show it on tape delay in prime time, and everybody watched it.
I remember Swede Savage and his wreck in '73. Danny Sullivan's "Spin to Win" in '85. Wins by Foyt, the Unser brothers, Rick Mears, Bobby Rahal..
Used to love that day. Indy 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 all in one day.

Well the thing about the SB vs. the 500 is that you just have a massive difference in the overall fan base to begin with, but football is a weekly event that will draw more if a tv crowd because after the game any person can go out and play football in the backyard. Hence the huge amount of appeal gif the SB. People throw a huge party for the SB because it’s the conclusion of something they have been paying attention to bigtime in the last 4 weeks before it.

A lot of things have lost the universal hype they used to have..

Seems like all car racing is losing viewership /fans. NASCAR needs to Just go away.
