I feel like a lot of the super in your face religious people are some of the biggest a-hole I have met. They act all superior and mighty, judging everyone and talking down to people all the time. I don’t understand it because they miss the easiest message of the Bible Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. It seems like they miss the whole point of the religion they believe in and they walk around treating everyone like shite if they don’t act as they see fit. Is it just me or do y’all notice this too?

Not anti religious guy I am catholic.

Because they feel superior and want you to know it.

The more religious you are, the more judgmental you are.

Fact.

I disagree.

Super religious people can be a bit annoying but they are far from assholes

Paint with a bigger brush next time.

Yes, there are many people who are “religious” but don’t actually follow the teachings of the church. It’s all a show.

Also, people are awful.

Gravy and the gingerbread twins think they have God on their side in everything they do yet they're some of the most vile, hate-filled, viscous people on Earth. I think some people just feel they're above the fray because of their "piety" (pun intended in gravy's case).

In their defense, that actually is "holier" if you believe in that type of thing.

I find that the ones who aren’t all in your face about it are some of the nicest people I have met. It’s the ones who talk about it all the time they tend to be asses.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say they’re assholes, that’s harsh. The majority in my experience have been very kind people and usually give back...volunteer activities, donations, philanthropic efforts and the like.
I will say that also in my experience very religious people are among the most judgmental out there if someone has any differing views, values, or upbringing than them.

I think everyone is missing a key part, I said it’s just the super in your face people. Some of the most religious people I know that don’t ever talk about it are some of the nicest and most giving people I know. It seems to be isolated to the in your face religious people.

Exactly. Earth to OP. The world is full of assholes both religious and non-religious.

End of thread.

I had a friend growing up whose dad was a deacon, in church every time the doors opened. Never drank or said a curse word in his life, but he seemed to take pleasure in making his son feel about two inches tall. I saw it happen more than once.

I've always found that people who are super-religious (or super political) are mainly driven by the need to be acknowledged as being right. It's a purely emotional thing.
