My guess is that people who are confused about their gender are generally unwell and probably experienced a childhood that didn't prepare them for life very well.

Of course people like that have always been around, but the culture-makers only recently gave them these ridiculous outlets and even encouragement towards damaging and insane behaviors and lifestyle choices.

My problem isn't with a transgender person, necessarily, though of course I don't trust the severely mentally ill. Our problem should be with progressivism and its hidden proponents.

She wasn’t like this before that’s what is weird. I thought you were born like that.

Yes, but not as much as literally feeling like you're in the wrong body.

I don't understand it, but if cross dressing, surgery, hormones, whatever can help someone live a normal life and not contribute to suicide rates, I'm all for it.

Oh I agree. What doesn’t make sense at all to me Is that she has intercourses with a man (his penis goes in) and yet she swears she’s gay and even says that lesbians can like dick and gay men can like vaginas... I’m like no that’s literally the whole point of being gay Is that you don’t like opposite body parts.

Just because they identify as whatever they feel like at the time doesn’t take away that you are taking dick...

I’ll actually answer your question.

I’m transgender, I’m 45 years old and two years into my transition and not even close to being done with this whole thing.

I’ve didn’t come out until I was 42, because I was scared of destroying my life/marriage/career, etc. Furthermore, I wasn’t exactly demure and I’m on the bigger scale size-wise, so I never thought I could go through with this. So think about that for a second, from the time I was 7 years old, I wanted to be a girl, but I couldn’t. Physically, I couldn’t transition, because the times were different, people like me weren’t given the green light from Dr’s to transition (because of gate-keeping), as an Army officer, DADT was in place, so I had gut it out and take every bit of this pain and depression and stuff it down inside myself. That’s a damned good way to develop a serious drinking problem, which is what eventually happened to me.

But I am now three years sober, I also quit smoking. I no longer have this massive deep-dark secret to keep and I decided to transition. After two tours overseas, I finally figured out that life was too short to be unhappy.

This sh*t is hard. No lie, Transition is difficult. I’d say months 16-24 are a swift kick in the teeth. I’d wager that I am correctly addressed with “ma’am” about 95% of the time, even though I don’t pass a whole bunch (I don’t look like a man in a bad wig, being taller and bigger framed is just the cards I was dealt and have to live with that). People can still be weird, like no one bats an eye wherever I go, but Costco seems to bring out the Staring Olympics from every middle-aged man around town for some reason. Fortunately, I haven’t been subjected to any negative comments. But you read a lot of the comments from Posters here at TD and it starts to grate on you at times. Look, I’m not made of Teflon and don’t have a “don’t give a sh*t” personality. I wish I did. But I’m learning to not try and let it affect me anymore, because this is the only life I have and there isn’t another option with this whole thing.

I was just want to live my life in happiness, just like everyone here. This journey is mentally exhausting at times, so it’s one foot in front of the other. Maybe it’s because I’m a little bit older it seems like I’m more even-keeled.(shrug)

I mean it kinda sucks for them. You got media portraying childabusers dressing kids in drag, satanists attempting to score political points, really just drag in general being lumped in with them.

On top of the reality of maintaining employment, possibly losing or lost relationships with friends and family and being pushed into the political spotlight as a battleground. Maintaining a double life and progessing in neither.

It fricking sucks for them.

Eh, probably some truth to that. But my town is 45k people, in a very liberal area. I have two trans friends that live in very rural areas, and they’re both doing well.
