Also had the White Horse and Brass Rail down that way across the street from the Bengal. Man, Friday quarter beer at the Brass Rail would start my weekends back in the day.

One of the great failings of LSU admin over the years is not solving the ghetto problem around campus.

LSU has the money and political capital to solve this issue. But not the will.

There's very little that LSU does right. It's like they hire people to frick up the university.

Logged many hours there in the late sixties and early seventies. Is the building still there. I helped make Steve Bonfanti a wealthy man.

In the early 70s we would walk from the Pastime back to campus at closing time, never had any worrys about getting killed.

I look at Tuscaloosa when I went in 2003... Winning ships has made that a pretty campus. Lsu should take a page out of bamas campus. That small stretch of highland could be beautiful if they could develop it

Have you seen the 30 for 30 about the U? Miami football was a large part of the city’s success.

I wish LSU had never left Pineville. It was the perfect site for a state university. Centrally located, rural, but near an urban center. Unlimited space for expansion. Imagine Tiger Stadium nestled among the stately pines and rolling hills of Cenla.

Never been to Pineville. Just googled it. If that was were LSU was, I highly doubt I would have came here and would probably not have married my wife.

Yeah, Highland north of Aster is shite. They need to make LSU a closed campus. Too many times I'd pump my gas at the Shell station across from Smoothie King and have bums sneak up on me to ask me for money.

My last memory of the Bengal was having my head shoved under the Jager tap.

Other than the bars on Chimes Street all being lame, north of campus is a lot better than it was 10 years ago. The Bottom is way safer than it was even a couple years ago. Apartment complexes and new housing are going up all along Nicholson. The nasty sewer plant is closing soon. There's a f&%king Brewery. Oh, and the Spanish Moon is getting major renovations and will soon be getting a lot more big name acts to come and play in Baton Rouge. Also, the area between the interstate and Government Street has greatly gentrified in that time as well.

What needs to happen is that Chimes Street needs to remodel Slinky's and The Library and get some seriously good bars in those slots.

Almost all of LSU's crime problems can be attributed to people who stroll in from Highland past the north gates.

False. A shite ton of crime comes from this one section 8 apartment complex in the back of Tigerland. Everyone knows which one it is, too.

I don't think crime on the north side of campus is coming from Tigerland.

it would be more like auburn or oxford. LSU's culture in a true college town would be awesome.

Having been to Oxford, I don't want that. LSU being in BR is good politically when it comes to funding as the flagship school. It's the reason here in NY, Buffalo gets shafted because it's nowhere near Albany or NYC.
