Why is Highland Road (N of campus) even more of an abortion than it used to be?

Yeah, it's always been in "The Bottom," but at least it used to be somewhat presentable. Back in the 80's you had some great college bars along Highland, like the Bengal, Shanahan's, Kilpatricks. There is nothing there now but decay. Everything above Aster and the Wienerschnitzel is a fcking disaster.

We used to say, "man I can't wait for them to clear all this shite out and make it a nice area." LOL.

It's really bad as soon as you pass Wienerschnitzel. Nicholson from LSU to downtown is slowly improving and showing signs of life. Highland Road, however, is getting worse. Almost all of LSU's crime problems can be attributed to people who stroll in from Highland past the north gates.

It's better than it was 15-20 years ago.

Too bad all the decent music venues are gone.

Logged many hours there in the late sixties and early seventies. Is the building still there. I
helped make Steve Bonfanti a wealthy man.

I'm not sure. I haven't been down N Highland in probably a decade. We used to go to the Bengal when I was in HS at like 16

I think they knocked it down many years ago. I believe an auto parts store is there now. I also miss the old Cotton Club. It was always fun to watch old John Mahaffey from WBRZ get tanked there.

Sex Lies & Videotape filming at The Bayou was the pinnacle of N Campus nightlife. It's gone downhill ever since.

Feel bad for people who can’t find a way to leave Baton Rouge after graduating.

The auto parts store is gone. It’s now a thrift store for poor people.

are college students and that age group even interested in non-rap anymore?

Not sure if this is a dig at me. I left. Drove down the road yesterday for the first time in a while. Nothing but human misery on display.
