Corporate leaderships job is to make as much money as possible for the shareholders. It’s fricking slimey but it’s out in the open and stated.
Union leadership is supposed to protect workers rights and jobs. How does spending millions on luxuries advance ANY of that?

Yes. It’s stated in the job title.
That is expressly different than union leadership. Union leadership is the exact perfect example of communism and socialism executed in the real world.

When I was in college, I got into a disagreement with my instructor about joining a teacher's union (I was an education major).
Her argument for was that I ever got into a legal situation, the union would be there for me as legal representation. An "invaluable" resource.
My argument against was that it seemed to me the easiest way to protect myself was not to put myself in that situation to begin with.
Previously working in public education for 15 years, I won’t work in a school district without a union. Parents will sue over absolutely anything and everything.
I once needed union representation over a suit a parent filed claiming her child had nerve damage in his hand because he got a piece of pencil graphite stuck in it and we didn’t remove it at the end of the school day or contact her by phone (she hadn’t update her contact info at the school). It drug on for months because she hired the equivalent of an ambulance chaser for the school district and they were determined to get us all fired (myself, a clerk, and a teacher).
I understand frustration with unions in certain settings but they still have value in some situations.

I guess they learned about abusing the system from our government.
Goverment spending abuse

Perhaps most notable, though, was the food spending, which came in at more than $20 million. This included $15.1 million on rib-eye steak, $1 million of salmon, 272 orders of doughnuts for $139,224, $124,000 for ice-cream machines and $26,000 for sushi preparation tables.

As a union member for 41 years there were some things I didn't like from the leadership. For the most part they were there for the members. My wife absolutely hated paying the dues every month. But besides the money for Medicare every month, our secondary thru the union is $115 a month for both. Once we each meet our deductible for the year ( $300 ) we haven't seen a bill.
Thank you James Riddle Hoffa may you Rest in Peace where ever you ended up.

Unions for relatively unskilled labor is a scam in today’s age.
It blows my mind that Ford and GM are held hostage by $70,000 employees who literally just attach a door to a truck 50 times a day. We wonder why shitty trucks cost so much.
