P100 isn't letting anything through. This is what you wear when you discover a new novel virus in a chicken farm, cave with bats, or an African village.

can we keep the social distancing part? I like that people don't stand right next to me and tables aren't on top of each other at restaurants..

I am pro mask, but this all day long.

You're making a pretty big assumption just to confirm your own bias. Direct study of the effectiveness of masks shows they help. Disagree all you want, but it just shows that your uninterested in anything that goes against what you already believe. I know you're better than that.

Fact: Cloth face masks are effective. They create a barrier between your mouth and nose and those around you. This makes it more difficult for the droplets that spread coronavirus through coughs, sneezes and talking to reach other people.

Cloth masks mainly keep you from unknowingly spreading the disease to others, but some studies indicate that they may help protect you from large droplets and serve as an indirect reminder to avoid touching your face.

Fact: frick off

But they do help. They do more than zero, which is the argument you and others have been trying to make. Arguing they do zero is a losing argument. That doesn't make me a mask zealot. You've seen me post enough about this to know that isn't the case.

My point is that the wearer should find a better mask to protect themselves instead of being so concerned about everyone else wearing a mask to protect them.

The mask, if it works at all, works equally in both directions. People used the "to protect others" bullshite to sound virtuous.

They have. It’s a KN95 mask. Try wearing one for an hour then imagine all the bitching about them if that’s what everyone wore.

If masks didn't work then we'd have most of our doctors and nurses, who treat Covid patients, get sick or die. They absolutely work. This same shite went around back in the day when cops wanted you to buckle up. It saves lives. I don't see people getting outraged these days about "Click it or Ticket". Isn't that against your "freedoms"?

There's arguments that a lot of this is due directly to their consistent low exposure and built up immunity. Many of them believed they caught it early on and weren't worried about that much for example. My dentist isn't worried about catching it, but he thought it he had it in like Dec 2019 so I called BS on him because we are friends.

No, I'm simply looking at the real world statistics, not an academic study.

Academic studies have their place, but the real world has a way of trumping studies. And the real world has shown that masks, as mandated by governments, are ineffective.

I wore an N95 mask when the virus first hit back in March. I had blisters on my cheeks and got headaches from my face hurting.

Again, you're ignoring countless other variables that have an effect just to get to the conclusion you want.

I'm simply looking at the facts. Period.

And the facts say mask usage, as mandated by governments, is ineffective. Otherwise the statistics would have been different based on type of mandate and compliance. But they weren't.

They potentially help spread but are they no unintended consequences of wearing masks continually for extended periods of time? People love to say Dr/Nurses wear masks for long periods of time with no issue; however, they forget to mention that they also receive training on how to do so.

People have been brainwashed into thinking that masks protect them as opposed to wearing it to protect other people.

Saw a billboard on Earheart Expressway the other day that said something to the effect that your mask protects me and my mask protects you. Thought that was interesting.

Peoples is dumb

Call it whatever you want. This is classic correlation /= causation.

Cover your mouth and nose is all the training you need to wear a mask properly

I will admit that my N95 mask got stinky and smelled like a dirty air filter after a week. Most likely bacteria was growing in it. They can definitely be harmful if reused too many times.

Not really. I already said wearing certain masks are effective. Wearing a cloth or paper mask is simply not effective at stopping the transmission and spread of a coronavirus.

And the case rates across this planet prove it.
