Why has the quality of medical care gone down so much in the last decade?

Basically every doctor visit now does some combo of tests, sometimes multiples of the same test, that ends with a vague non-diagnosis, meanwhile the symptoms still remain.

I’m trying to think of the last time I got an actual diagnosis of anything after visiting a primary care doctor or specialist. I was probably in 9th grade.

Is this an Obamacare thing?

You seem in denial of your AIDS diagnosis.

Do you go to the doctor often? I’ve been 2 times this year. Once for a follow up on some iffy blood work from a physical last December and once for strep throat. My physical next week will make it 3.

It's going to get much worse as the next wave of doctors retire within the next decade.

Lately I’ve had to go more because of an issue I’m dealing with, but the same type of care has also happened to me in the past years and also to a close family member.

Tests, tests, more tests, another doctor, more tests. Then a dead end.

You're seeing the wrong doctor, baw. There are still some amazing doctors out there. Tests are necessary, but they shouldn't result in a dead end.

Too much litigation. Doctors don't really want to go out on a limb anymore. They will test you to death. Of course, some of this may be insurance requirements.

If a doctor is running a littany of unnecessary tests it’s because he’s charging your insurance company for the cost, which in turn makes him more money.

Your doctor is scamming your insurance company and ultimately scamming you because they’ll end up raising your premium.

Find a new doctor who isn’t a scumbag and report him to your insurance provider or whatever organization is charged with reprimanding medical professionals.

If doctors didn’t run tests they might miss the quota for the test company kickback cruise

You don’t need to be seeing a primary care physician, you need to be seeing a psychiatrist. That’s where you’ll get your correct diagnosis.

As a result of the ACA, there has been a rash of mid level practitioners (nurse practitioners and physician assistants) taking over primary care responsibilities. While some can be good at their job, some are just outright scary and shouldn't be practicing.

You get what you pay for.

Or in your case, you get what your insurance company agrees to pay for.

If you want excellent service, it costs extra. Just like in any industry.

It's called capitalism.

You expect something to be solved and someone to give a crap that your masturbating hand isn't as strong of grip as it was 15 years ago?

I don't know, but yesterday I received one of those "explanation" bills. There were $959 worth of charges, $789 wasn't allowed, insurance picked up $25, and I was responsible for the rest. That's a crazy system right there.

Ha. Imagine going to Burger King and them saying your total will be $200, oh, my B, you have a ____ card, that will be $12.
