Ehh, I just think we are in a different age of medicine.

It used to be pcps/physicians were in the position of being the final diagnosis without much of questioning, whether they were right or wrong.

However, now we have google, webmd competing for the authorative answer, along with the potential pressure of the missed diagnosis and fear of litigation. Leads us to a battery of testing or referrals to specialists. Couple these with decreased reimbursements, pressure to see more people in same amount time, makes it also easier to just test away or refer away I think.

That being said, I think the overall quality of care Is better, but maybe just not as efficient or cost effective as we would like it to be.

Yeah they did. Dont know why we werent paying more for high deductible insurance a decade ago....

On to the OP I got my first your blood tests are showing higher 'X' calls, so we need to move you on to a specialist. Apparently my hemoglobin level is a little high, so of course I've WEBMD myself to dying of cancer soon and/or kidney/liver failure in my future. Fun times....ha.

There is currently a major shift away from fee for service compensation to quality based compensation. Physicians are slowly being pushed away from the meat farm mentality. It should help.

(I work in health care compensation)

Your doctor is scamming your insurance company and ultimately scamming you because they’ll end up raising your premium.

If that were true then insurance rates would be rising like crazy...

Almost every doctor has a long wait time now also. It isn't unusual to wait 45 minutes in the waiting room before being brought back. That's across the board. I've just started walking out after 45 minutes.

I'm also not sure what's going on with neurologists. It's almost impossible to get an appointment within 3 months

this an Obamacare thing?

Partially. Fear of lawsuits is a big part of it as well. The more layers of bureaucracy you add (Obamacare), costs will necessarily increase. Both tend toward lower quality care and higher costs.
Fault?
Sloppy doctors, greedy trial lawyers, misplaced faith in government solutions, incompetent bureaucrats, Obama/Democrats, insurance companies, Republicans(offering no other viable solutions while screaming about the Dems' failed attempt).
One thing i know: I trust private and market solutions to government ones.

As much as Obama actually screwed up, not everything is his policies fault
