Why don’t we allow companies to sponsor bridges and government buildings?

Instead of naming them after dead politicians we could create a significant revenue stream by allowing companies to name and advertise.
Not my idea but I like the concept.

Because nobody wants their name on the Bridge that everyone jumps off of, crashes on, slows down traffic, etc...

Put Joe Alleva in charge of the project. He will happily have everything sponsored.

I think Baton Rouge could definitely use an "Exxon/Mobil Bridge" near L'Auberge.

They'd regret purchasing the naming rights after about a week when they get the fifth "TRAFFIC ALERT: Expect heavy delays from the Tigerdroppings Bridge to the 10/12 split due to a second 18-wheeler breakdown on the bridge."
Everyone would associate their name with their biggest headaches.
Or...
"Chicken was sentenced to life in prison today at the Tigerdroppings Courthouse downtown for murdering his entire neighborhood in 2001."
None of those sound appealing.

If someone is brave enough to sponsor a stadium that the Browns play in, then i think a bridge that people jump off of to suicide themselves is comparable.

Technically, we do. The Superdome is owned by the Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District (LSED) which is a state agency.
I know what you're saying, though. Personally, I believe it is something that will happen in the future and I also like the concept.

In Infinite Jest the naming rights to years were sold and numbers were no longer used. A large part of the book took place in the Year of The Adult Depend Undergarment (with the Statue of Liberty wearing a giant diaper). Great satire, we're not too far away from it.

LSED also owns the Smoothie King Center.

For the right company in the correct sector that wouldn’t necessarily be a negative.

I know it's not exactly what you're saying in the OP but the City of NOLA rents offices and floors in Benson Tower...I believe there are some state offices set up in there as well

Raising Cane's River Center.
Companies sponsor all sorts of shite at LSU football games and that's a public facility.

Could be a huge conflict of interest. Not a Pandora’s box we should be eager to open.

Do you think allowing government employees to accept endorsement money for our buildings would be a good decision?

I like it better than giving my tax money to government employees.
