Ruby Slipper does, Chimes does, and I had better not get random promo texts from any of them.

A promo text? For a restaurant I'm already going to eat at?

Sheesh, so if I don't want to give some marketer my "nobody's business" phone number now I get to carry a burner phone just to get a seat?

Who goes to restaurants that don't take reservations through open table? Is this like a Red Lobster or something?

I can't think of a time I have received a promo text from any restaurant I have given my number to.

I mean, I'd rather deal with the restaurant than an app. I've given my number out twice. Once was for a high end bar for a happy hour that had an hour wait time. They weren't going to be giving away promotions. The other one was for brunch

Maybe I'm weird, if a restaurant I like is going to text me randomly about deals/promotions that might save me some money versus going somewhere else then sign me up.

Easier than having to follow and like shite on Facebook or Twitter.

If it is someplace I don't plan on returning then I can just block their number, takes 10 seconds.

It's really not an issue.

Until you don't tip because the service was shite and the shite waiter signs you up for 3am wakeup calls and free watermelon craigslist ads.

Yeah but I don't worry because I don't and won't give my personal number out to restaurant staff.

I hate the costs of those systems. Not sure what the text system runs but I wouldn't want it. I don't even use the buzzer systems. Those buzzers cost over $60 each when I did use it. You were constantly replacing them. Now I just use old fashioned pen and paper.

Those systems meaning a burner phone from Wal-Mart?

Boost Mobile handles all the (technology) guess work
