Nah, that's something different. Wiki

The fissile material is molten salt, and the reactor isn't pressurized.

ETA it can burn spent fuel ("waste") from the other reactors as well, and still produce the much shorter half-life of waste.

If you have legitimate proof that isn't from a scientist being paid by a special interest I'd love to see it. I would love for climate change to be wrong because the alternative is we're fricked.

No politician or scientist wants to tell you that we currently do not have the capability to meaningfully and practically change the climate of the Earth, at least in the direction of our own choosing.

We should always strive to be better stewards of the Earth and should continue to research and pursue new technologies, BUT we need to consider PREPARING for climate change.

We ain't going to save the planet and better humanity by reverting back to trains and using windmills and solar panels and Teslas.

That is not smoke. That is water being cooled and turning into a vapor which will dissipate

Because they don't want solutions, they want to bitch about the problems.

Who has ever said that it has not always been dynamic? That is not a good argument for your side.

Nuclear power is a zero carbon emissions solution to the problem of global warming that could realistically power the modern world's energy consumption needs.

I'm a big advocate for nuclear energy. It is peak science. But nuclear waste is a problem. Currently our government pays millions to power plants to store their waste on site because we have nothing to do with it. The government looked into building a national facility, but no one wants in near their property.

I don’t know if this is entirely true. There are several different methods that have been proposed, mostly related to reflecting sunlight.

The problem is unintended consequences. What scares me the most is that some country decides to take things into their own hands and causes a global food crisis, or worse - an ice age.

We have a large vitrification plant being built now. We have bacteria that are able to metabolize radioactive materials and deposit stable metals as their own waste byproduct. There are safe storage methods available to us for current and future waste...

A mini-ice Age is on the way though we should be ok in the south.

All the nuclear spent fuel rod waste ever produced from all sources will fit on a football field stacked to a height of 10 feet.

It’s just not that big of a problem.

Because global warming activists are not really concerned with the environment as much as they are hungry for political power.

Yes. But, not at the rate it's changing now. I know it's more soothing to believe that everything is ok. But, if you're getting your info from politicians who are backed by oil money, you might want to do further research.

And, as for the original question, because nuclear energy sounds scary, and to some degree it is. Although, I agree, it might be our best option.

Because it's not about finding solutions, it's about destroying private industry, confiscating tax dollars, and money-laundering while pushing a communist agenda. The modern green movement is far more red than it is green. If they were serious, they'd be talking about fertilizer runoff creating dead zones, water pollution, and ways to cut down on plastic waste from Asia that is creating the great garbage patch, but instead, they focus on CO2. They focus on CO2 because it is a necessity that is a byproduct of literally everything you make, eat, breath, and consume. If they can tax that, they can control literally all human activity.

EXACTLY.

If climate change is actually an issue, there is nothing for gov'ts to do. Consumers and business will alter their habits based off their needs (survival being the need). Ever notice that EVERY climate change solution involves gov't regulation or control of something?
