We have a lot more variety. Advantage US.

media

We have MSNBC and CNN. Advantage Europe.

fashion

Only shallow, superficial people care.

art

Matter of preference. Plenty of good artists along the I-10 corridor.

public spaces

We have a lot of nice places and they have a lot of run down ones. This one is fake news.

emotional context

Word salad. Plus if we don't think our lives suck, then we're doing quite well emotionally.

work environment

I have a job I enjoy that pays me adequately.

life in general

Why would I possibly give up what I have now? Nothing I've seen has sold me on the idea that Europe would be a better place to live.

LOL

Europe is in deep doo doo from their progressive, ignorant ways. The EU will be the death of it.

Poland,Hungary must continue to fight the good fight.

Looks like you're not very well travelled if you think the average European is any different.

Most of Europe is a shithole. Americans overall are better off. We just have a different culture. It's like comparing old money families to new money ones. Europe has the snobbiness and prestige of old money families but reality is they are living on successes of the past and the bank is slowly draining. America is new money, flashy and boisterous and we don't "act" sophisticated enough for the tastes of old money people but reality is we are in better shape and getting richer

One thing Europe has had until recently is relative homogeneous culture within countries. That's quickly changing.

That isn't true. There were significant language differences until centralization efforts in the late 1800s and 1900s. There were cultural differences until centralization efforts as well. The notion of homogeneity in Europe is based on race and on culture and language, which is far more diverse than the US.

You seem to be making the assumption that Europe is a country, which it's not.

Within borders, it's faar more homogenous than the USA.

If the USA hadn't provided for their defense, I imagine there would have been a good chance much of Europe would have been part of the USSR a couple decades ago.

No not at all. For example there is little cultural or language uniformity within Spain, as there are numerous autonomous regions with languages and culture. Places like Germany and Italy formed as countries later, and have significant differences between historical populations, to the extent that the Bavarian dialect of German is nearly unintelligible to neighboring dialects. Language and culture are generally intertwined, and the language history of even places like the Netherlands is far more diverse than the US, and far more diverse than people seem to give it credit for.

Again, centralization efforts in numerous places give the impression of cultural homogeneity, but that homogeneity is relatively recent.

Eastern Russians, the tribal ones, are steppe peoples largely.

More Mongoloid than caucausoid.

There isn't a country in the world with the diversity of the United States. None in Europe come close.

And no one does it better.

Of course, the writer forgets a few things:

America’s economy is the backbone of the world economy.

The US provides protection for much of the world.

The US is the primary funding provider for the UN and all of the stuff it does.

The US is built on an idea that people control their own destiny and their lives will be better the harder they work and the higher they reach.

The US has bailed Europe out multiple times.

We declared our independence from England so that we weren’t bound to being like them (and by extension, the rest of Europe). We weren’t forced to do what they did or said we should do.

Apparently not everyone likes how Europe is right now, or Brexit would not have happened.

Finally, I don’t care what “Umair Hague” posting on some random website says about America. If America does not provide the quality of life he seeks, he never has to come here again.

I'm saying that the argument that Europe is made up of relatively homogeneous countries doesn't reflect their history or their current reality. I'd argue that the language diversity of certain countries is greater than the US, where most people speak English. Since generally language and culture are closely intertwined, this would upset notions that Europe is "relatively homogeneous."

Absolutely. The Europeans are terrible at integration.

Relative to the US? In the latter part of the 20th and 21st Century when we're actually able to experience it?

Of course it is. We're not discussing the 17th century, and we're using the USA as a base comparison. That's what this thread is about.

Although the Denisovians have to be somewhere, even if their genes are diluted.
