Why doesn’t Texas just become its own country again?

For the record I think Texas sucks balls, but they don’t need an international pandemic to keep out the riff raff from Louisiana. If Texas wanted to close its borders and tell the rest of the United States to frick off they could do it tomorrow.

Texas has the world’s 17th largest economy, produces about 5 million barrels of oil a day, has one of the largest and busiest port systems in the world, good schools and hospitals, plus enough home-grown provisions to sustain everyone in Texas. Their national guard would probably crush a lot of foreign militaries.

My question is why doesn’t Texas go full 1836 and become its own sovereign republic? They certainly have the infrastructure and resources to do so.

Because they would just be a country at the beck and call of America and would lose their votes to control America.

The only stat that matters is how big and effective their National Guard is. One clue, it ain't near big enough.

Then you would gift every future presidential election in America to the democratic party

The males are beta and weak. That's why they recruit Louisiana men, to come in and breed Texan women.

Certainly isn't large enough for a nation that wants to control oil.

Imagine holding an assload of oil reserves in America's backyard. Get ready for new leadership every couple years as we try to bring freedom to yalls asses.

Didn't the Americans already kill hundreds of thousands of Americans to settle this once and for all a few years ago?

Texit ain't happening.

Cali would be a 3rd world country in less than 10 years. Texas would hold up for maybe 20, unless they exile all the socialists.

Texas never wanted independence, they wanted to be an American state. Independence was just a stopgap while they waited for statehood, which took a while because of objections from the non-slaveholding states. As an independent country, Texas didn't have the wherewithal to keep Mexico from invading again or to secure itself from Indian raids. The myth of rugged independence is just that, a myth.

The most famous figures of the Texan Revolution weren't from Texas.

Sam Houston? Virginian.
James Fannin? Georgia.
Stephen F. Austin? Yep. Virginian.
William Travis? South Carolinian.
James Bowie? Texa... nah, just fricking with you. Kentucky.
Davy Crockett? King of the wild frontier. Also, Tennessean.
Frank Johnson? Hey, hey. Virginia.

Juan Seguin? ACTUALLY BORN IN TEXAS!
